Bankers & Anchors: Rnd 23, 2021 vs Port Adelaide

This is the round 23, 2021 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once the game against Port Adelaide is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

    B

    Weightman tried all night
Young tried out of position all night
    Roarke tried all night

    A

Wood, I’d happily not see again. But he’s got another year so I will.
    B. Smith. You have no trade value. I better get used to you.
    Bevo. Rucking Bonts.
1st to 5th in 12 days. That’s missing a one foot putt with a two shot lead. I know what the media would call that.

    Bankers

Roarke's third quarter. Kept us in it
Caleb. When in doubt, give him the ball
    Keith beat Dixon comfortably

    Anchors

Inside 50 kicking. If you have English one-out against a shorter opponent, kick it to him
Wood's disposal in the first half was not what you want from a senior player
Midfield positioning. We just have to set up defensively in the centre if we're rucking Young all night

    Dale: gun

    Wood: done
    Smith: have a spell son

    Bankers
    Alex Keith
Treloar is slowly working back of injury. Unfortunately a week or two too late
    Roarke Smith

    Anchors
Bontempelli: 15 minutes of good football in the 1st quarter isn’t good enough. Supposedly the number 1 player in the game and our captain. We needed more
Liberatore: Forget the tagger go for the football
Macrae: Not sure the value he is adding the last 6 weeks

Those 3 mids are cooked… have carried us all year and we need others to step up. Our game plan is sooooo reliant on midfield dominance and when we don’t we have little else to offer.

    Bankers;

Dale - keeps looking to launch us off half back.
Hunter - had a terrific game.
Keath - back to his best quickly.

    Anchors:

Bailey Smith - tries to do too much, never kicks it to us, extremely frustrating player.
Woody - has been looking ordinary since he came back from his most recent injury. Hard to justify him staying in the side for me.
Naughton - That stupid dangerous tackle released the shackles for Port and got them away.

    Bankers

    * The three goals in the third sparked by Weightman - great work
    * Hunter's elite running up and down that wing
    * Keath - has been one of the best KPP we have recruited.

    Anchors

    * The last ten minutes of the last quarter when we should have stitched up the game after being 15 points in front
    * AFL's idea of how a game should be played and their instructions and change of rules and umpiring - the game is in the worst spectacle it has been in since I remember watching as a little kid.
    * Commentators are so irratating

    Keath was sensational.

Very underrated. We need to find him an equal in that back half.

    Bankers
    Alex Keath (Dixon 0-0)
    Lachie Hunter
    Roarke Smith

    ANCHORS
The MC who continue to select JJ, Cordy and Wood despite their form NOT warranting it. No wonder we are cruelling our chances and supporters are beyond angry.
Bevo, who thinks rucks don't matter.

    We have one.

He's tall, aggressive, takes fantastic pack marks, great defensively and at ground level. He has no forward craft and cannot hit a barn door. He is great tall defender being played out of position out of necessity.

Keath and Naughton down back. You know you secretly want this. You want one of the best backlines in the comp.

Agree with your Bankers. I would add Young, who had a real crack but perhaps not to a lot of effect.

    Agreed, but who replaces them?

Anchor 2. We often start well, attack, then our opponents adjust, and then we go into our shells and that is that

Anchor 3. See above, we seem to always have no Plan B

    Bankers
    Big Keith the Chief.

    Anchors
Relative to salary, JJ by a long shot.
