Watching some old games, especially 2016

Been watching a few old games, especially 2016, Grand final etc.

Nice to watch a game where there is no stand stand stand, goal square is the goal square, third man up is allowed, no stupid interpretations of deliberate out on the full.

    Footy peaked in 2016.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Just about to watch 2016 Preliminary Final. Got the tissue box ready.

Update: Still sent shivers down our spine. If we play with that level of intensity and passion this Saturday then we might just grab it, especially considering I think our current side is more skilful.

Brad Scott should watch a few games from the 1990's before taking the chair in his new role. Then on day one annouce all of the changes you have listed along with:

There is this rule called 'holding the ball'. We're going to pay it.
There is this rule called 'in the back'. We're going to pay it.
Then simply show his new umpire boss the same videos and say, "So - are we good to go?". After that, wander over to wherever the 'ARC' is and 're-assign' everyone who works there and all of the equipment to game development and close it forever.

I think that about covers it.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Re: Watching some old games, especially 2016

After enjoying the 2016 PF for the upteenth time we watched the 2016 elimination final vs Eagles last night, tonight will be the 2016 qualifying final vs Hawks and tomorrow or Thursday will be 2016 GF. Although winning the GF from outside the top 4 really tested our nerves at the time, the plus is one extra game to savour once the season is done & dusted.

What struck me about the WC final game was the dogs’ players hunger, pressure and ability to move on and not hang their heads even when some risky play ended up in a turnover. The reason we built up such a big lead was our ability at clearances and risk taking appetite. I think our marking ability is better then 2016 and I’m not sure we will make such risky moves as back then, given the Dees are excellent at scoring from turnovers. Bevo will have a competitive stew on the stove, that much I’m confident of. Go Dogs!

Let’s hope there’s another boxed set this year for us to watch again & again & again…

I also went back and watched this years finals, but not in full. The Essendon game - second half, the last quarter of the Brisbane game and the first quarter of the prelim.
