    Assistant Coaches

After many years of stability with our assistant coaching ranks we are now looking for 2 coaches at the Kennel.

Rohan Smith is currently the sole assistant coach and we also have Jamie Maddocks (Development Manager) Travis Varcoe (Development Coach) and Stewart Edge (VFL Coach) round off the team around Luke Beveridge

Does anyone have any suggestions on who we might or should look at?

Could someone like Sanderson, Sumich, Solomon, Yze or even Mark Williams be in the mix?

Damian Monkhorst might be able to help our rucks
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Sanderson is clearly talented and we would be an experienced addition.

I wonder if we could pry Dean Cox out of Sydney?
Troy Chaplin is the dees defensive coach as another option.
I would love to get Joel Corey back or left field let’s poach Jimmy Bartel from the giants board

Agree that Joel Corey who was highly regarded by Bont previously would be good to have back at the Kennel. Dale Morris and Matthew Boyd currently at Freo, being outstanding club men would also be outstanding additions as assistant coaches.
Certainly time for a refresh as Melbourne have proved.

Do you mean Bob Murphy at Freo? Morris is still at the Dogs as far as I know.

Apologies for any confusion, I am aware Dale Morris is employed in the Marketing area at the Club. Matthew Boyd is with Fremantle.

We should never have lost both Joel Corey and Dale Morris at the same time. Matthew Boyd now at Fremantle should be a top priority.
These three would greatly strengthen, our MC and as all are former Premiership players would greatly strengthen our Assistants further weakened by the loss of Hansen and King to Carlton and GCS. Given our rapid fall away this year, this needs to be a priority for the likes of Luke Darcy and Chris Grant in conjunction with Luke Beveridge to address.

Joel Corey and Dale Morris were huge losses to our MC following the need to reduce our Coaching panel following Covid. Disappointing to now see Morris at the Lions and Matthew Boyd at Fremantle who were both highly regarded at the WB.

Had Morris even started as a development coach when the cutbacks meant he moved into the coterie management role but I agree that it was a loss. Corey I thought was a strong coach and that was a real shame that we had to let him go due to those enforced cutbacks.

Definitely a yes. But really all I want to do is sit in on match committee so I can have half a clue on how he selects the team each week.
