Rating our list 2021: Mitch Hannan 29

    Hi All,

During the off season I thought I would start our list rating again. I won't included the new recruits as there is nothing to go on and I'll leave out desisted and retired players as there is no point.

Like last time I'll count down from the highest number to the lowest but I thought the poll rating this time will go on a different tack and get Woofers thoughts on how they rank from Elite to Below Average.

I may need to hurry this up.

Versatile forward Mitch Hannan requested a trade to the Western Bulldogs from Melbourne during the 2020 AFL Trade Period. Agreeing to a two-year deal, the 27-year-old was already familiar with VU Whitten Oval – having featured in Footscray VFL’s 2016 premiership. Initially drafted as a mature-age recruit, he managed 55 goals from 50 AFL games across four seasons, while establishing himself as a dangerous forward with great speed and tackling pressure.

For me Mitch is one of those players that makes up a team. He can be useful but doesn't do enough well enough to be a safe bet.
I'll mark him as average if he could be more productive in front of goal it might lift that rating but that doesn't look like happening.

I rated Mitch average as well. He seems to do the right things to get to the ball, but doesn't finish off as well as he should. He is pretty fast for his size and needs to use his pace more, but for me he is a soldier and is given a role to play -nothing wrong with that.

Does a job, but to be honest there were a lot of games last year where he was a passenger. Will want to improve output this year.

Needs to make the leap from decoy to danger
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Intriguing player for us, I must admit I don't see what Bevo must see but after talking to Dale Morris last year Hannan is really rated by the club.

On what I’ve seen concrete hands and not a reliable goal kicker. I hope he comes good but equally I hope others are given opportunity soon if Mitch does not.

Good point Josie, he is taking a spot and preventing others to be given a go. Needs to perform.

He really clicked at the end of last season/in the finals and finally seemed to get the balance right of being dangerous while not getting in our other forwards way. Thought his practice game against Essendon was an encouraging continuation although he wasn't great against Brisbane.

Hasn't been as dangerous aerially as I expected, but I'm pretty on side with him now. He's basically a less stupid Gowers, and only really needs to put in some blocks and contribute 1-2 goals a game to fill his role.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Classic role player who is more valued by coaches and teammates than he is by fans.

His blocking work for Naughton is valuable

Average in the right way. Had some poor games and had some good games.

Would like to see more consistency, but a good team role player.

Doesn't do enough to justify ongoing selection, below average.

+1 This, would prefer Wally there over Hannan most of the time.
