Unfortunately once you've joined that cult there's no extraction possible.
Somehow they inherit the hubris from the older supporters too.

I don't know why we get so stuck on possession count. A midfielder should be getting plenty of it, it would be more surprising if they didn't.

Bont's 20 would be twice as valuable as Parish or Mitchell's 40.

I actually thought Parish had some dangerous touches early which surprised me as I didn't associate that with him.

Merritt I didn't actually notice once which isn't a good endorsement for his game.

Re: WB Game Day V Essendon R7 2022

I didn’t think they got punished enough for the saga but I see a real connection between their current plight and what happened..and why it ever happened in the first place. Their arrogance plus their inability to accept that any rules applied to them are still on display with their continued emphasis on quick fixes. And I reckon it’s irretrievably damaged their culture. How can you as a player seek to give your all to a club that was prepared to mount an experimental not to mention illegal drug regime? Their players are the most passionless and robotic in the comp and their much trumpeted acquisitions inevitably go backwards. The fans were complicit in their deluded defence - the same fans who are now threatening to never go to a game again in protest at the clubs weak efforts were the ones loudly “donning the sash” and seeing only afl conspiracy instead of calling for real change and real humility from their club.

In fact the club’s core is rotten. I’ll never forget the club itself placing Stand By Hird signs on seats for the golden boy who brought their club into such disgrace.

So yeah… every win against this mob should be savoured, I was only disappointed that when we were 50 points up we didn’t turn the screws even harder.

I don't think we can throw stones as we have been guilty of this.

If you watch them, it's not even the fact that they handball more than they kick - it's more that the handballs are often backwards to a player under just as much pressure as they are.
The "We Are Essington" ANZAC Day video on you-tube shows it perfectly.

Imagine 2016 - Essendon's midfield are the guys that failed handball club.

I'd argue our handball use is far more effective than Essendon's, but I'd argue right now the Keilor u13s handball it more effectively than Essendon too

Caldwell was taken with one of the Shiel picks, 6 I think.

He is a good pick-up for the Bombers I don't mind him.

Rutten strikes me as a bit of an accountant. Bevo is half-mad and I love that.

IIRC we considered him too - our back up plan if Rozee, Smith and B King were taken

Great assessment of an absolutely awful institution.

To think that at some point even CARLTON, of all clubs, have been able to show some humility and self reflection, after years of despicable behaviour and yet these absolute scum rat, nouveau riche, bourgeoisie pig faced cockroaches can’t, is quite an achievement.

Any time you weave bourgeois into a sentence is also quite an achievement SOS!

I'm heavily into history and Ian Kershaw is one of my favourite historians specifically around 20th century Germany.
One of his beliefs is the holocaust was allowed to occur on the back of an indifferent bourgeoisie in Germany at the time.

"Auschwitz was built with hate but paved with indifference"

It takes leadership and courage to create change and speak out.

(disclaimer not relating dons to holocaust rather human behaviour in general)
