Re: List Management thread (For 2022)
Just having a look at our back line options for next season and despite the depth we really do need to look at a smaller lock down defender.
Duryea Jones Gardner
Richards Keath Dale
Daniel Williams, Cordy
Darcy, O'Brien, Cleary
Crozier, Khamis, Raak
15 players seems a bit of oversupply but it's not a particularly strong list in terms of quality.
Is there an argument to be made that we should add more defenders to our playing list?

We need 1 quality KPD and 1 quality lock down small defender.
Cordy and Crozier can go.
For instance, IF we were able to get Sam Collins (Cordy out)….massive upgrade
If we could get a quality lock down defender (Harry Cunningham type ???) and crozier out…upgrade
Jones, Collins, Gardner and Keath for 3 positions
Darcy, khamis, O’Brien, Cleary, raak as back ups
Duryea and Cunningham??? For 1 position
Richards, Dale, Daniel, Williams for 2 positions
I will never see #16 the same!!

To lay it out slightly differently...
KPD: Jones, Gardner, Keath, Cordy, Darcy
3rd tall/Interceptors: O'Brien, Khamis, Cleary (Richards)
Offensive half backs: Dale, Daniel, Richards, Williams, JJ, Treloar
Lockdown: Duryea
I'm not really sure where Croz and Raak fit.
It makes it pretty clear to me that we need more actual defenders, which will also help with our structure behind the ball which is often very loose.

It's not a sexy sell but I don't mind this selection, he's clearly a natural forward and a natural footballer.
He jointly won the 2020 SA goal kicking award in 2020 with 38 goals so knows where the goals are. A good feat..

I'm wavering on Rowe but come on he is like 20x the footballer Hooper was. Rowe had 21 and 2 goals in a really good game in round 1 this year. Hooper wouldn't have had 21 possessions in whole seasons.

Despite his height. I’d probably have Darcy as a 3rd tall / interceptor at the moment. Not sure he’s gonna be matching up on your Hawkins / Lynch / Cameron types

Do we move Daniel to a wing or HFF and use his elite kicking to feed the forwards and replace him with a lockdown defender.

It's why I wouldn't rule out adding to the back line via the trade or draft periods but to me smaller defender and a young KPD would be the priorities not another mid sized attacking player.
If Collins was genuinely available then perhaps Cordy misses out but I suggest given we have made him an offer we aren't that hopeful of grabbing a KPD via the trade period.

I agree, Darcy is at least another 12 months away from being able to be regarded as a KPD.

It's tempting isn't it? I get the feeling we are reluctant to make that change but maybe the new midfield coach will want to add him to the midfield.

What about Scott being trained as a lock down small defender? He has some good points about his game. My big knock on him is that he doesn't find the ball enough but a new role like this would take care of that.

Disagree. I was really impressed with him and I think he will prove a quick learner too.

So he's good to go and play on the more genuine key forwards in the competition?

Not every one has to get the ball 25 times a game.

Didn’t we try that one out? Went horrendously from what I can remember.
We’re gonna need Scott as a wingman, especially if Hunter is actually leaving.
