No way McComb isn't on the list next year. He is limited but we need depth and he has already played 10 games. There is an argument to be had about whether he should have been drafted in the first place but it's a moot point now.

Garcia gets another year to see if his body will allow him a clear run at it.

Raak is only taking a category B spot I believe so may be worth keeping if he has shown enough promise.
I get it, but also we’re going to need to turn some spots over. Who goes?

I guess we could put a line through Cordy and Schache (I’d keep Josh however), Martin… our tall depth takes a hit. Maybe that’s ok?

I don’t get McComb. Surely there’s blokes who need an AFL lifeline or even guys who are about to retire that’d be better if we need depth. He’s not a 19 year old.

Copying and pasting this from BigFooty, as always, grain of salt level shit.
Word from a pretty reliable source on the Bulldogs Discord group is as follows, but as everything of this nature at this time of year TAKE IT ALL WITH A GRAIN OF SALT:

-Stefan Martin has pretty much retired at this point, isn't expected to play another senior game this year unless both Sweet/English can't play, is staying on in a ruck-coaching job
-Recruitment team was in WA for an extended period last week, met with several player managers from both WCE and Freo, we are chasing a combo including McGovern, Lobb, Logue, Pierce and Barass, trying to shake a pair of defenders from their clubs.
-Club is backing in English to be our number one ruckman long term, beyond the two years he just signed, will not go chasing another number 1 ruck again
-Club knows we have defensive issues, big focus within the four walls
-Rohan Smith is expected to step down as our senior assistant / defensive coach role this year, replacement unknown, internal pressure building, higher ups not happy with how this season has gone.

    Cody Raak: 2022 (Rookie)

I’d be moving on all the guys bolded, 1 year contracts for Keath, Schache, McLean, Doc, and depending on how we go in trade period, Cordy could get 1 year as depth. If we get another KPD in trader (which we better!) then Cordy goes.

I reckon Dunkley will leave. JJ prob gets 2 years. Smith apparently getting 2 years. West I’d offer 3 years.

Maybe that’s cutting too deep but I don’t see any of the guys bolded doing enough to help the team and we’d may as well put on 3 rookie KPP or Rucks and seeing how we go using those spots for longer term prospects.
We keep one of Cordy or Schache for depth I'm leaning towards Cordy.
Garcia is a keep for sure.

I suspect we lose a player or two which helps free up list spots.

We need to lose three players per AFL rules.

    Martin
    Wallis

    Who else? Butler?

That all sounds amazingly reasonable. Although surprised we would be aiming for x2 KPDs. West Coast need to blow the whole thing up and start again so there has to be deals to made there.

I think those 3 are almost certainties.

McGovern is on what $1.2m a year with some bullshit third party mining deal that I assume we’d also have to get akin compensation for, and has been more exposed by 6-6-6 than any other player in the game. Would not be my first choice.

I reckon he'd be good for us. 6/6/6 came in in 2019 and he made All Australian that year. Since then WC have largely sucked.

He could be a Brian Lake type move for us. I like it. I'm glad we're trying to kick over every rock available. I'm also totally 100% sure given the post came from BF that it's legit. So, after our remarkable charge to the 2022 flag, 2023 is a gimme with a strong defence in place.

With our Ballarat connection surely we can get Sovereign Hill on board!

I mean he would probably be good, but for $1.2m dollars? Who is he Chelsea Clinton?

    Potentially Dunkley and/or a mid-tier player (pre-agency or OOC)

Sure. That'd be overs. Is he actually on that much and would WE have to actually pay him that much per year? I guess the devil's in the detail.

I'd love to have him in the team for a few years.

According to Colin Young, Logue's manager we have not touched base regarding trading for Logue.

If we can't delist 3 or more players after our performances this year then we are going nowhere. We need to just turn over those players who we know won't make it and have been given plenty of opportunity - McComb, R Smith, Schache, Wallis, Martin and Butler. If O'Brien didn't have a 3 year deal i would go him as well. They need to change up asst coaching and get some experience. Noble would be a good get to have back. Guys like Rohan Smith have had their time. I feel we need to change it up.

McComb is a rookie as is Roarke (has contract till end 2023 )

    No thanks to Noble.
