Is there a chance Darcy could be effective in that role next season? Yes. Are the odds historically stacked against him? Also yes.
The vast majority of the young, really tall skinny types just can't consistently compete against the more mature bodies in what is the most difficult position on the ground in their first few years.
Paul Salmon! Ah the fish. Man he was good.
I agree percentages say most will struggle, there's just something about Sam he looks so composed.

How many ruck contests did he take?
Saints move heaven and earth to play two rucks - Paul Hunter got games with them FFS

Re: List Managment thread (For 2022)
Could Darcy play Half Forward Flank and be more of that marking player before going into the fifty. It may protect him a bit of the crash and bash being more in the forward line as such and then give Tim the chop out for 5 or 10 mins a quarter.

Re: List Managment thread (For 2022)
As always, grain of salt:
-Hunter has been told to explore options
-JJ offered unders, not happy, exploring options
-Dunkley not wanting to leave Vic, Port not wanting to give up a first rounder for him, Richmond prepared to make an offer
-We are deep in talks with Barass, and have made inquiries about other KPD's (Ben McKay has been mentioned) but we're focused on Barass.
A few Bulldogs circles are talking about Keath retiring at end of season, although I haven't been able to confirm that one with people I know connected to the club, he still has a year to run on his contract, and personally I don't want him to go if he can repacture that 2021 form he is a gun.

Why have Essendon cooled on Dunkley?
More of an In Bruges guy?

I would have thought Parish coming on has filled their urgency on an inside mid

With Merrett, Parish, Caldwell, Hobbs, McGrath, Smith, Langford and Sheil they have the depth in a numerical sense but not quality so Dunkley would still fit in well for them. They will probably sit back patiently and see if they can get him on the cheap.

There's a reason he's not playing firsts.

Where is this coming from didn't Barrass sign a 5 year deal with WC last year? Doesn't make sense.

Re: List Managment thread (For 2022)
Small forward Joel Western is another Docker yet to receive a contract offer for 2023 after four games in his two years at the club.
I wonder if we would have any interest? He was a Freo NGA player and we bid on him in the 2020 draft before Freo matched, so we obviously did have an interest back then. Plus the name - Western, from the West at the Western Bulldogs!
MJP have you seen much of him?

He is the kind of player with currency you can potentially cash in on if you're commited to a rebuild. At 27 he probably won't be there for the next run at a premiership. That may be the logic.
