I suspect the original offer will be made again by the club at the end of the season if De Goey keeps it together.

Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022
The age is reporting
Collingwood are the front-runners in the race for Brisbane Lions key forward and free agent Daniel McStay, who is weighing up competing five-year offers.
Sources familiar with McStay’s position say the Magpies are best placed, at this stage, to land McStay, from a field of three or four clubs.
Collingwood, who have made plain their wish to attract a key forward, have offered McStay a five-year deal worth close to $600,000 a season.
Brisbane recently upgraded their offer from the initial three years to a five-year offer for McStay, who will turn 27 next week. The Lions’ offer is close to $500,000 a year and is sitting with McStay, who has not yet made his call on what will be the biggest decision of his football career.
But there is a significant complication for Collingwood if – and only if – star midfielder Jordan De Goey leaves the Magpies as a restricted free agent.
In the event that De Goey exercised his rights as a free agent and went to another club, Collingwood’s compensation draft pick – potentially a first-round pick if he is able to get a significant contract – would be compromised; the Magpies would no longer gain a first- or end-of-first-round choice.
This would leave open the possibility of striking a trade deal with Brisbane if the Magpies wished to retain a compensation pick and still snare McStay. If they re-sign De Goey (whose contract offer was withdrawn on the weekend), there would be no need for a trade and the Lions would receive a compensation pick, likely to be end of first round or second round, based on past deals.
The five-year offers for McStay, who is not a front-line key forward in the AFL and has benefited from playing alongside Joe Daniher in 2021 and 2022, are a measure of the scarcity of key forwards in the market.

If McStay can get 600k for 5 years, Naughts is going to command 1.2M for 7 years.

Well it was the mistreatment of a minor who a bunch of them had sex with and then took photos of each other naked and playing with their dicks. And even though it was only one or two implicated in having sex with a minor a few very high profile players seemed to get off without too much blow-back.....pardon the terminology.
They then set a little person on fire.
But all of that happened after multiple accusations of rape/ sexual assault/ misconduct.
So really, getting Jordy in is probably a lite version of a throw-back to yesteryear. They're probably wanting to balance the competitive nature of those days with how pathetic they are these days on and off the field to find some kind of perverted balance because that's what that terrible piece of shit club does.
N.B. I've met a few Saints players recently/ over the last few years and they're OK.
Nobody's looking for a puppeteer in today's wintry economic climate.

Every club has a belief that "the culture/leadership at their club will look after it".
Sometimes they are even right! There are legendary reclamation projects throughout the history of the league.

I wouldn’t go reserving a jumper number for him or anything but a Carlton buddy of mine reckons we’re into Josh Honey.
I don’t reckon I’m into Josh Honey so hopefully this is smoke.
