COULD GIANTS PICKS GET DUNKLEY TO LIONS?

Brisbane and Greater Western Sydney have agreed on a deal that could help the Lions’ pursuit of Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley.

News Corp can reveal the Lions were shopping pick 15 to rival clubs and have found a trade partner in the Giants, who will send them No.21 and a future second-round selection in return.

The trade is awaiting AFL approval but is expected to get the green light.

Brisbane now has more flexibility to trade future picks, with league rules preventing clubs from trading a future first and second-round selection unless they bring an extra one in.

The Bulldogs want two first-round picks from the Lions for Dunkley.
No need for the qualifier GVGjr. It's puzzling. Unless they want to do a future first and 2 future seconds? Not sure that's quite the same as 2 first. Not what we asked for.

I'm not sure. I just see that (circa) Future Pick 16 & Future Pick 25 is way, way unders.

That 15 was surely what we asked for.

    Dunks is staying.

At this point the Lions are trying to have their cake and eat it too. We were obviously asking them to give us pick 15 and extras so they took pick 15 out of the picture so we have to settle on far less.

    A lateral guess.

GWS move from Pick 21, into Pick 15. While giving up a future second. But that future second is just a shuffle down a little bit.

    Three way trade:

GWS: In: Pick 15, Future 2nd (Dogs), Salary Cap Relief
Bris: In: Dunkley (Future First & Second)
Dogs: In: Future 1st (Bris), Future Second (GWS), Nick Haynes ??

GWS: Out: Pick 21, Future 2nd
Bris Out: First 2021, First 2022
    Dogs Out: Dunkley, Future 2nd

GWS add the player, not Brisbane - possibly a salary cap dump type trade - Nick Haynes name is coming up. They shuffle future seconds, upgrade from this year's second round into the first round and get salary cap relief by dumping Haynes (or another player?).

GWS do pretty well. Brisbane get Dunkley. We get a first rounder, plus a player and second rounder.

    Edit:

GWS save a shitload of cap. 2022 Picks 3, 12, 15, 19, 44 (Future 3rd for Hill, Shuffle of future second rounder.) - Plus Hopper deal.
Brisbane land Dunkley, Gunston, Ashcroft & Fletcher
Dogs get First & Second Round plus mature player defend to pair with Jones. (Or other player)

Not happy with this deal, two years ago we wanted two first rounders.
His football is quality and he has just won our B&F, would take 15 and a quality ready to go player.

We might need to maybe add our future third at a push depending on GWS player salary. But this is making the most sense for all three clubs getting something from the trade, assuming our wishes are involved.
