It’s like not a single person up there I’d responsible for managing the salary cap. It happens every year.

I would - then we would have a a good basket to really set up for the future with some early draft picks.

    Dunkley 2 x Firsts:

2022: Picks 7, 11, 15, 29, 37, 65 (& Hunter pick), Jones free as an UFA, Bowes as the modern Lachie Veale
    2023: 2 x Firsts, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

That’s a solid refresh of the list, even if a few picks are traded out for players. $1.5M is a lot of cash, but that’s five first round kids potentially hitting their straps when Marra & Darcy are launching off, while our mids still have a solid A game.

    Interesting investment decision…

this would be a dream - make it happen

With the last two years Pick 1 and Pick two, we should play finals for many years to come. We took a risk by paying Boyd $1 million a year and we won a premiership, so $1.5 million is nothing

How would the media and other players react I wonder?

Last time we bought Tom Boyd, the dollars were always brought up. $1.5M in a potential VFL player is a big target on our back.

And we might have two father sons to accommodate in 2023 to getting some additional capital there would be handy

    Massive investment decision.

Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022

I don't know much about Bowes. Would he be worth, say, a 2nd rounder if just traded and on market rate $? Or is he completely useless?

The "pay $1.5m for pick 7" is only the case if he's useless.

I think no matter what, we need a ruck this year, and we're getting Jones as KPD. We COULD, I guess, go into next season with that set up so long as the ruck we bring in is physically ready and better than Martin, who surely retires. If we do that, then maybe we try and get that pick 7 and get the best KPD in the draft?

The media won't care, these deals are constantly done now.

He is better than a VFL player. Last year he averaged 21 disposals and this year a bit lower, but had injury concerns.

Just listening to Sanderson and he is talking about Harry Cunningham not being able to force his was back into the Sydney side.
Weightman told me last year he was the hardest opponent he played against.

If he was just on the market without a big contract to absorb I'd say he would be worth a late 2nd but more likely a 3rd rounder for the right club.

I like him. Not dissimilar to Hunter Clark, in that he has plenty of talent, has played good AFL footy, but has battled traumatic (i.e. not soft tissue) injuries for the last couple of years. I think a 20-30 pick would be his trade value on his own, but if he was at a competent club they might ask for more.

He wants to transition to permanent midfielder. I’m not sure if he’s best 22 as a mid. But with Dunkley out, and a wing potentially opened up, maybe there’s an opportunity for him to cement a spot in the middle of the ground.

He’s better than Lockie Veale that’s for sure.

Back pocket option? I think I read he is 29?
