I guess there is also a process to engage the umpires directly rather than via a cryptic message through the media.
I had a look at some of the highlights of the way Collins played Naughton after initially getting thrashed and I didn't see a lot wrong with it.

If Naughton gets an extra free kick each game then it might be worth it.

Our ball use in the 2nd half made life a whole lot easier for Collins too... Lots of flat kicks in rather than giving the ball some 'air' which allows Naughton to get a jump at the ball which is when he's at his most dangerous.

Naughton does get a rough deal from the umps as he is consistently scragged, but we need to kick the ball to his advantage more which will make life even tougher for defenders.

The irony is that Naughts and Collins have been teammates. In 2017 before we drafted Naughts, he played some games for Peel Thunder. Collins also played at Peel as they are Freo's reserves team. Naughts has said that they both played in the backline and that Collins would scream instructions at him which actually helped him as a young 17 year old.

I'm a little surprised at the criticism of Bevo around here for what I view as something completely innocuous and blown up by the media. This isn't the first time a coach has been asked a question, been frustrated, and said they can't say anything due to not wanting to be fined.

Yes, he has his faults but some things get blown well out of proportion and this is clearly one of them.

Bevo completely back tracked this morning.

He's copped 10 questions in a row about it and made it clear he said nothing and saw nothing!

Interesting also said Weightman should be back could've played last week.
