Question Three things you've learnt. Round eleven v West Coast Eagles 2022

So. Come on then. Three things you found out tonight.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

    1. Tim English is soOOO important. His a good ruck and plays as an extra midfield. If we can get a 10% improvement in Sweet , watch out the ruck duo!

    2. 16 goal kickers, 7 of which multiple goal kickers. Keith with multiple goals. Extraordinary number of goals, Big % booster. If we win next week, Cats would drop a few places!

    3. When there is all round team performance we can bury teams. .

    1. Can see why Bevo isn’t a fan of sweet. Unless he’s playing ruck he is nowhere near it

    2. Really pleasing to see rhylee west developing and getting better but by big each week. Very good tonight

    3. I want to see that level of transition, spread and contested ball winning against a top 8 side

    1. We did the job that we needed to do, but don't get carried away by this win, Westcoast are at a very low ebb.
    2. West earned his selection once again.
    3. Based on tonight, I can't see Sweet getting it done against Stanley and Blicavs.

    1. Tim is our number one ruck that is without a doubt.

    2. Sweety needs forward coaching during the week if he wants to stay in.

    3. McNeil can kick it long and accurately.

Do you really think his issues can be fixed in a week? He looks horrible as a forward for Footscray and if you can’t touch it when your team wins by over 100 points and you have almost 70 inside 50’s then you’re in trouble.

Yep. 100%. He is competitive and physical at the ruck contest but is basically like playing a man down around the ground.

Agree. The issue is he is an ok tap ruckman but not setting the world alight. Tough to prioritise over English in the ruck contests with how Tim is playing this year and that just leaves him in nomans land

Timmy has just taken himself to a new level this year. I still question his ability to handle the really elite, physical rucks but outside of Gawn and maybe one or two others, he’ll just leave the rest for dust now.

We’re absolutely desperate for a decent #2 ruck/forward to provide a chop out and maintain structure. Doesn’t even have to be of the Jackson/Marshall caliber, just an improvement on Cordy/Sweet/Hannan etc. Darcy may be the perfect player for this but we need one now, not in 2-3 years.

    1. Luke Beveridge coaching from the bench is working; hopefully he can continue it at grounds like Marvel as the players seem to be embracing it.

    2. I love, love, love our new onfield structure. Keath, Gardner and O'Brien down back, Williams and Scott on the wings. The forwards mixing up how they set up after a goal (all in single file, etc). Just another tweak or two needed. Kudos to the coaching staff recognising we needed subtle changes and making them.

    3. Aaron Naughton is a leader on field through his voice and his actions. If we can fix the second forward and ruck position he will only get better. Sky is literally the limit.

    1. I was right about Sweet. I didn’t learn this but you all should have.

    2. Bailey Williams on the wing is hot shit.

    3. West Coast are broken. Their 22 is not so bad that they should be giving up like that before games even start.

    1. Sometimes the best 'recruits' come from within, we've picked up a powerful half-forward and damaging wingman in West and Williams

    2. Even having missed five games, Timmy could still top our Brownlow count this year.

    3. Alex Keath was capable of kicking GOTY this whole time

    1. If Westy can keep that intensity going, he should cement in the best 22 for the rest of the year.
    2. A few of us suggested Williams to the wing. Wow, he looks like he’s enjoying his footy again. Great to see.
    3. Our backline is still shaky for mine and I worry about teams with genuinely strong fwd setups.
I will never see #16 the same!!

    1. That if we beat Geelong, have a good chance of 6 in a row.
    2. If golfing me could control a powerful draw like Williams kick for goal I would be king of the fairways.
    3. With a Keath and English back we are a much better team.
