Bankers & Anchors: Rnd 14, 2022 vs GWS

This is the Round 14, 2022 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once the game against GWS is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

Re: Bankers & Anchors: Rnd 14, 2022 vs GWS

    1. When our precision kicking game is on, we are very efficient at the ball. Also our work rate improved, we start wining the clearances. Macrae and Libba were amazing tonight . Macrae tackles in the thrud were gery signficiant to win back the ball
    2. Having multiple goal kickers in Weightman and Naughton kicked 5 shows we can find other avenues.Cody determination tonplay through the injury is extraordinary

    3. English is really growing into the complete Ruck now. Can play forward, drop in the hole to take important marks and take some grabs out of the ruck. Still getting beaten by Keffe was really annoying to watch

    Anchor
    1. Umpiring bias - Toby Green is a protected species and was given 2 goals . GWS were given were 4 goals. WTF was that 50 m for in the back half against Anthony ?

    2. When Taylor was off, we managed to kick 4 on the trot. When he came back on, thats when the goals dried up. We should have won this game more than 5 goals and gotten a healthy percentage booster . It all counts as we are now 1 game behind the pies.

    3. Injuries - bad injury for Duryea, hope his ok. Bonts looks like he was injured/sore with heavy shoulder strapping, as his timing was off with his kicking. Has Keath got an injury ? He looked sore tonight and could not jump.

    Bankers

    1. Weightman - kicks 5, dislocates an elbow, gets it taped and comes back on. Does NOT shirk a contest......inspiring!

    2. West - his 1st quarter was amazing. Reall set down a marker. Was a little quieter in Q2 and Q3, but came back into it in Q4 and could have iced the game. Has made real progress and has a real footy brain!

    3. The Bont - when the GWS came at us in the last he stepped up with some key clearances and settled things down. Kicking for goal was a little astray, but gee he was good tonight.

    Anchors

    1. Injuries - TD and CW. TD going down really upset our balance and played a part in TG getting off the leash

    2. Panic Stations - at times we pannicked in the back half. Dale, Treloar Keith Daniel usually clean players were just a little less clean tonight and gifted the GWS a few goals through errors and turnovers

    3. Leon Cameron - GWS are still a solid team. Not sure was going on when he was in charge, but you have to say its been a change for the better.

    Bankers

    1. Macrae was absolutely brilliant, he is a machine. The three big tackles in the third was almost a turning point in finally stopping GWS from scoring

    2. The forward line kicking a big score with Cody, Naughts kicking half the score.

    3. The spectacular passing to a leading Naughton in heavy traffic - Schache and JUH both hitting him on the chest. Great to watch.

    Anchors

    1. The first half defensive effort allowing GWS to just go straight down the corridor from one end to the other.

    2. AFL rules are ruining the game. The 50m penalty against West for the stand rule is just a joke - very hard to watch footy when this happens.

    3. Of course injuries. Hopefully Doc's is not too bad, and Cody doesn't miss any games.

    Bankers

    1. Macrae - a vice captain's game
    2. Lesser lights such as West, Scott and O'Neil doing well
    3. Schache showing his forward craft

    Anchors

    1. Injuries to two players we cannot directly replace - Doc and Weightman
    2. The way we are so easily cut to pieces, Saints, Blues and Bombers have done this to us
    3. Backline does not really work, still.
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

    1. Macrae - a couple of his tackles at crucial moments were just so pivotal to reigniting us and blunting GWS breaks. He just worked hard all game.
    2. Forward line connection and finishing! Overall a vast improvement in how we went inside 50 and then rewarded all the good effort with goals.
    1. West's first half, was just a display of smart's, experience and calmness well beyond the kid's year's. Really liking what he's building this year.

    Anchors

I think the main one's I can recall have been covered off already.
