Experienced Senior Assistant Coach to help Bevo - Who?
A few months ago, the club sounded out Leon Cameron to come to the Bulldogs and take some load off Bevo's shoulder, however, Leon rejected it due to his daughter's schooling in Sydney.
Who are the candidates we should chase?
Ross Lyon has rejected applying for the Essendon Senior role - should we chase him?
Is there someone we should poach from Melbourne, Geelong or other successful teams?
Personally I would want someone that has not been under Bevo previously like a Gia, Boyd. I want new ideas coming into the club, to give the coaching panel something to think about.

I like Ben Rutten - he is a defensive line specialist and Essendon would pay his salary in 2023, which helps with our soft cap. Unfortunately Richnond also like him and look like getting him.

Club needs to get cracking, as soon, no one left

Why don’t we simply poach another club’s lead assistant in December? Worked well enough against us.

I know Pies handled Treloar contract badly. But I like Buckley. I reckon he is a strong leader and has been measured and respectful in his interviews and media career. Whether he and Bevo would be able to work together I’m not sure, but I trust the club to define the senior assistant role well. Media might have a field day though with an ex coach so may not be appropriate.
I also prefer experienced assistants who are not ex (reasonably recent) Bulldogs.
What about Bartel?

I'd love Matty Boyd back in a coaching role.

Bartel is the guy we should poach to be our GM of Football.
He isn't interested in coaching. Football Admin is his go.

Re: Experienced Senior Assistant Coach to help Bevo - Who?
As I said in one of the other threads.
If the rumor that Bubba is retiring from coaching this off season is true, M. Scarlett would be my first choice for defensive line coach, his already been a development coach at the dogs, and built one of the best defensive lines of the current Geelong era, currently unemployed, no brainer for me.
I'd be offering either Yze of Cox a grandfather offer to take over from Bev when he steps down, would have them as an assistant until that point.
Forward line coach? Literally anyone other than who we have now.

I can't see Lyon being interested in an assistant position.
Boyd has never coached under Bevo and has been at 2 other clubs for the past 5 years, his ideas should be as new as any other candidate.

Boyd played under Bevo so is there really any difference being playing under him or coaching for him?
I think Jaymie Grahan would be a terrific addition.
I'd have Brett Montgomery and Matt Boyd back as well. Monty as the senior assistant, Boyd to potentially replace Smith
Mark Williams would be a terrific addition to work with our younger guys.
I don't think Lyon is a good fit for us and I couldn't see him coming in as a 2IC
I'll scan some of the clubs, I think there are a few options.

Backline coach - ideally Luke Hodge or a similar "organiser".
Left field coaching idea - Shane Edwards. Very good football brain, I don't know how his communication skills are though

If they can turn a late pick (Larkey) into a star and make Casboult a better than average set shot for goal after being terrible at it for years, then they must have some coaching ability

You've been a proponent of Williams for a while, and looking back its crazy he was only coaching VFL for a while
Love the suggestion of Matthew Scarlett
David Mundy is the kind of former player Id look to - but I don't know what coaching aspirations he has or doesn't
Would a John Blakey be looking for a change of scenery?
Dale Tapping from Essendon? Not sure Jarrad McVeigh from Sydney would be looking for a move?
Stevie Johnson? Shane O'Bree?
