Maybe this is why Khamis is rethinking staying?
Sweet & Lobb. Maybe Smith. 3 assistant vacancies, no Maple replacement and no fitness boss, no interest from players trading in, Croft still uncommitted, looking like selling the WO for Pick 4… those reviewing themselves survived the review…
Could it get much worse.

If Lachie Neale wins our B and F that's it I'm out.

If we don't think we are contenders in 2024 we may as well shut the place down. That's not to say it will be easy, but the club has to live their own words and expectations.

What if we free up the 650k and get 2 picks back? I'd be happy to cut our losses and get that back for him.

After his year, whose giving us near our cost to get him?

This time we have the hand. Hopefully Melbourne want him and after their finals series they'd be desperate to get a player like him. I think we could cover our losses and maybe come out in front.

Grundy & 34?
Realistically Grundy ain’t coming. So potentially no Sweet, no Lobb and having to ruck Darcy whose body isn’t ready to ruck. Back to square one with Tim and rucking Bont and co.

McClure still saying hawks after Smith this off-season. Said hawks willing to offer pick 3.

Urgh. We'd probably do that deal. I don't want him to go but if he's going next year better now.

Nah we'd trade our 3 first rounders for pick 4 and then trade Smith and 4 for pick 3.

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Smith for pick 3 is better than F1 for pick 4.
I'm a little concerned about Smiths headspace and potential poaching next year.

Says a bit about how they assess the draft if true.
I'm not sure why so many of our supporters are almost wanting to get rid of Bailey Smith but a straight up pick 3 swap is a reasonable return.
Yes, he's a unique type of player but he has star potential on and off the field and I'd like to think we can unlock the on field performances.
If he really wants to go, then pick 3 is tempting but I suspect the Hawks would also want our 2nd rounder so they could land McCabe.

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
You would take pick 3 in a heartbeat for Smith. Then if we get pick 4 (without selling the house) we will be sweet for years if we can nail the picks.

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
So you're telling me that chasing the famously flaky Lobb, whose contribution was paltry in another pointless season for player and team alike, that both parties now wish to distance themselves from as hastily as possible, may not be the masterstroke we were led to believe?
Sincerely torn as to whether it's a better reflection on our brains trust if Lobb *sigh* stays, or if he's promptly ushered out the back door, never to be spoken of again.
