Yeah, best day of his life with the new born. What about the other daughters birth.

Well they add to it don't they? New kid, premiership, can celebrate later with the wife and other kids.

I don't really think it's necessary to dissect this anyway. The guy is happy to coach a premiership and to have a newborn it's not rocket science and it's not a slight on anyone.

It's a slip of the tongue. Upon reflection he will know he could have done a bit better but I agree it's not a big deal.

    Re: 2023 AFL Finals Series

An observation about all the Pies team today with the exception of Frampton.

When the post match ceremony got to the point where the premiership medals were given out to each player, I had a quick thought about each player as they went up to get their medal.

What struck me as interesting is that at worst each player played their role pretty well today. At best, obviously some played really well.

The upshot of all this is that I thought they were very even side without a mediocre or poor bottom four or six.

So similarly, how would you rate the Lions today?

Perhaps surprisingly, I thought Daniher had a very good game, but most of the others seem to fade in an out of the game while others like Hipwood had a shocker.

It didn't quite click for them but they acquitted themselves pretty well. They didn't get a 4 quarter effort from enough of them.

To be honest RS I feel like this is ripe for some of your finest work.

    Re: 2023 AFL Finals Series

There wasn't a lot in it but I thought the Pies best players (Daicos, Pendles, Crisp, DeGoey, Sidebottom) were just a bit better than the likes of Neale, Dunkley etc.

Hill was brilliant and probably the difference between the two sides.

Moore was perhaps worst on ground, Daniher torched him and could/should have had another 1 at least.

The trip to Neale doesn't even get paid half the time. Bad advantage call.

Pies clearly the better team, just didn't convert their opportunities very well.

As predicted the Gary Rohan medal for worst on ground goes to Eric Hipwood. Conor McKenna in the votes. Jarrod Berry also in the mix after throwing away the cup.

    Re: 2023 AFL Finals Series

Some good stories to come out :
Frampton: Port Adelaide could not work out where to play him . They wanted a ruck man , but he wanted to play somewhere else , like at another club. He was ordinary today and played the negating role against Andrew’s . commentators were praising his zero possession game at 3 quarter time

Markov: delisted by GCS , picked up as SPP , last player on the list ! Cemented his place once Howe got injured

Lipinski : could not get a game at doggies due to his limitations . Played the sub role well , maybe that’s his role ?

A few other journeymen in the Hoskin Elliot, Miochek, Cameron and to some extent Cox
Pies were the better team on the day .

Grundy missed out on a GF but his got to be happy with his squilllions in the piggy bank
Darcy Moore has joined the greats as premiership captain , history will look at him very favourably with his team first attitude

    Re: 2023 AFL Finals Series

I was at a pub with a random bunch of people outside of one or two and didn't really concentrate on the game. It was obviously close, but it didn't seem like it was nuts pressure/ tightness driving it. But I didn't watch the space between the beats enough to really tell.

Collingwood did super well to keep it going after burning so many opportunities, credit to them, they really stood up.

    Re: 2023 AFL Finals Series

I am so pleased that Lipinski has a Premiership medal and Dunks now has 2 loser's medal's.

For a team like Brissy that has grabbed players from other clubs it's a just reward. Good team with a soft underbelly.

    Very happy the Pies won
