Time for Keath to step up.
Nobody's looking for a puppeteer in today's wintry economic climate.

Medical Room | Round 2
Western Bulldogs key defender James O?Donnell is unavailable for this weekend?s AFL clash with Gold Coast after suffering concussion during a VFL practice match on Saturday.
The youngster shook off an ankle injury to return to the field over the weekend.
?In the early part of the first quarter in a contest, James O?Donnell suffered a head knock that lead to some concussion related symptoms,? Head of Sports Medicine, Chris Bell said.
?Since the game, James has recovered well, and his management will now be in line with our concussion protocol.
?He won?t be available for AFL selection this week, but we hope to see his name on the whiteboard soon after.?
Jordan Croft has remained in the rehab group over the summer with shin soreness but is moving towards a full recovery.
?Not unusual for a first year developing player, but Jordan Croft had some overload to the bone on the inside of his shin during our pre-season,? Bell said.
?He required a few weeks off his legs but has made a good recovery and has built some continuity in his running and training loads over the last month.
?At this stage he will integrate back into a training model and we?re optimistic to see Jordan pull on the Footscray jumper in the next couple of weeks.?
Defender Ryan Gardner remains a fortnight away as he battles foot soreness.
?Ryan had some foot soreness develop right at the back end of our pre-season training block,? he said.
?Wanting to avoid any more serious injury, we have been conservative in Ryan?s management to make sure we set him up to be durable for the season ahead.
?He has been back running outside, and we are expecting him to return to availability across the next 2-3 weeks.
Aiden O?Driscoll continues to make strides in his recovery from a head knock during a pre-season session.
?Unfortunately, Aiden O?Driscoll had quite a significant head injury after a clash of heads during one of our match simulation training sessions in pre-season,? Bell said.
?We want to make sure that we are thorough and comprehensive around the decision making related to his return to play.
?We are currently working through a process that involves external experts to help guide his management plan.
?We will update again when we have more clarity and confirmed timelines.?

"Devastated to announce that Coff will undergo shoulder reconstruction surgery tomorrow, leaving him sidelined for 12-14 weeks. We are all behind him as he begins his road to recovery."
Such bad luck for Coff. That is bascially the season.

His body just cant handle the rigours of AFL. Sad for him, not sure if he has a future in the game.

Medical Room l Round 3
Bulldogs defender Nick Coffield is set to spend an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering a shoulder injury over the weekend.
The 24-year-old will have a shoulder reconstruction surgery tomorrow, before beginning his road to recovery in the coming weeks.
"Unfortunately, Nick suffered a shoulder dislocation early in the game against the Suns during an aerial contest,” Bell said.
“This is the same shoulder Nick injured five years ago while he was at the Saints.
“This is devastating for Coff, who has been incredibly diligent and professional in working hard to build some continuity in his training after having an injury interrupted couple of years before arriving at the Dogs.
“Nick will require a shoulder reconstruction surgery to repair the damage to his shoulder. This reconstruction will be completed tomorrow, and we will update his return to play plan in the coming months.”
Ed Richards will miss the upcoming fixture against the Eagles due to concussion and is currently inside the 12-day protocols.
James O’Donnell has recovered from his concussion during a VFL practice match and should be available this weekend providing he completes main training.
Player Injury Estimated return
James O'Donnell Concussion Test
Jordan Croft Shins Test
Ed Richards Concussion TBC
Ryan Gardner Foot 3-4 weeks
Nick Coffield Shoulder 12-14 weeks
Aiden O'Driscoll Concussion Indefinite

Re: Injury List 2024
12 to 14 is actually better than I was expecting. Assuming all goes well he’ll have a good look at more senior footy this year.

Was a nothing incident to result in a shoulder reco. Just a spoil action. Crazy!

Re: Injury List 2024
Injury list number wise is ok with seven players but four of those players are best 25.
Our depth in our back half in particular is being tested… and of course as luck would have it our weakest line.

Re: Injury List 2024
If I read that right, Smith out for the ‘season’ means a MSD Pick if we want it. As opposed to him being TBC, or 20 weeks etc.

Look, we all know we can’t really put any faith in what is listed in the injury list!

Re: Injury List 2024
We should look at a defender in the MSD draft. Jones is old, Keith is old and Gardner can't get a run at it we need some tall insurance.
Don't piss off old people
The older we get the less "LIFE IN PRISON" is a deterrent...

Marty Hore might have been a good option.

Gardner should be right in a few weeks. Keith should still be a solid option if needed. Buss hopefully could play if required. Unless we have any injury crisis anyone we bring in is going to behind all these guys and very little chance of playing. I would only do it if we were going early on someone likely to be drafted at year end.

With Buku and Coffield I'm not sure we were in the market for another 191cm defender.

Its more that as you get older the risk of soft tissue stuff increases and although it may not be long term it would be handy to have a tall defender to plug some gaps if required. More break glass option.
