Re: Left of the Dial - Positional Changes

Aaron Naughton to full back....(Just kidding BAD).
Ed Richards into the middle as the Libba replacement when he pulls the pin.
Has speed is evasive and if someone gets a break he may have enough pace to catch them.
The next question who take Ed's role.

Re: Left of the Dial - Positional Changes

Being a bit more serious I'd consider Artie Jones for a back pocket role. Think he has the physical attributes (I might have a tendendcy to over rate players with good physical attributes for a role) to play on the small forwards that trouble us and contribute on the rebound as well. Whether he has the smarts or determination or whatever mental stats he might need as a defender (or whether he can learn quickly enough) is another question

It's a good suggestion worth considering. In a practice game about 12 months back Jones was run off the back line and was quite prominent. The following game he was moved forward but he did really well in that cameo in back line.

    Weightman to midfield.

Sure he is our only good small forward, but I don't see why he couldn't be very effective and a point of difference in the midfield.

He brings tenacity, pace and defensive work rate, all things we lack there. I think he could be very effective as a Dahlhaus type player there.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

I actually wouldn't mind going the other way and trialing Baker as a genuine forward pocket. He's quick, he finishes his work in front of goal, he likes to niggle and chat the oppo. Not sure if his lateral movement or ability to read the ball are quite what you'd like from someone in that position, but we really need one and I don't think he's in our best side as a wingman,

I would suggest Bont to CHB. He becomes the tall interceptor and launches from the backline.

Do you think that would be a positive for the team?

That is left field! We do need to strengthen the backline, I'd be loathe to move Marcus out of the midfield for too long though and generally if you're a defender you don't rotate through.

Not sure it's mega left field however Garcia as a permanent pressure forward.
Question would be speed and tank so basically everything; I just like his devotion to the contest and think he could be like a little pit bull down there.

Isn't this effectively the role he has been playing? The Vandermeer/McNeil role where their chief role is to close down space and not get involved too much?
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Interesting mine are there. If you're using a mobile try desktop mode in your browser. Should be in settings depending on your browser of choice.

Basically yes. No one has grabbed it yet, I really rate Riley and think he could do this role effectively.

A lot would have to go right though and I question his speed.
