Gold Coast Suns for the flag under Hardwick's deadly meat tray move

It's difficult to see how any other team can compete with the Sun's brilliant meat tray strategy and the stated objective of winning the flag.

Says a lot for this club that they never had that objective before.

How Damien Hardwick is trying to turn the Gold Coast Suns around in the AFL with meat trays and study desks

I don't mind the club just stating they're about winning AFL and AFLW games and hoping that if successful provides a platform for the other stuff. They need to get out of the mindset of being an expansion club that has to juggle too many priorities outside of the basics, when the focus should be the same as the other clubs.

However, even the ABC has to sensationalise the departure of the previous coach:

"Dewy (axed coach Stuart Dew) did a fantastic job to get us where we are now, but we needed someone who had been there and had the experience to take us to the next level.

They could have easily called him the previous or former coach, but they have to go with axed to make it sound as dramatic as possible.
Nobody's looking for a puppeteer in today's wintry economic climate.

Not that many premiership coaches move to another club and win a premiership there.

I'm betting on Hardwick joining that list. He doesn't have the infrastructure around him at Gold Coast that he had at Richmond.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Would Matthews be the last one?
