Re: WOOF welcome Luke Kennedy to the Whitten Oval

Here's a game where he got 30 touches.

doesn't seem slow to me. Maybe a bit vanilla if you didn't know he is good defensively.

Could use a trick or two to buy time/space in traffic but gets by here taking the first option and doing it quick

Yes, we need a lot more Ray Shoesmith in the side.

Comments on Luke from his coach at the Dragons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2GYk37v6_M
Anyone can support a team that is winning, it takes no courage. But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you, that takes a lot of courage, so lets always be behind our boys and girls in red, white and blue.

    Thanks for video smads
"Great footy brain" he played on wing and played well. A position he has not played before.

    Two way running.
I think he just needd to build his tank.

Good postivie feedback on him as a midfielder.

    Extremely happy with this pick.

Team first midfielder, which is a must have in today's game.

Has the ability to play as the number one midfielder for the Dragons when Ashcroft and Marshall were playing elsewhere but equally happy to play third fiddle when they came back.

That takes a special kind of person.

We must like him and thought he’d be taken. We traded in very late to get him at Pick 62 when we would’ve had Pick 69 had we just waited. In this light it feels less like we took the best available as opposed to having our sights set on him and trading in to get him.

The last time I recall we did nearly identically similar was to get Garcia.

Lovely kicking action. Runs in straight, holds the ball nice and still, stands upright and kicks through the ball. Top marks from the Twodogs' kicking police.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Looks a neat player indeed, he and Dolan have some attributes that our smalls lack on the list/

My rates are quite reasonable. There's a Bulldog discount too.

Will be interesting to see where he settles, might not necessarily be as a mid. Wouldn’t surprise me if we even had him earmarked for that pesky small defender role we’ve been trying to fill. Most good back pockets were midfielders at the junior level, looks to have everything to thrive as a bit of a defensive minded backline general IMO - those foot skills are superb and doesn’t look slow to my eye maybe not quick but still

You need to be very quick to play that role

Wouldn’t say Doc or Matty Boyd were very quick, raw speed is important but getting overrated these days - small defender is the one role you can still get by on smarts, strength & craft IMO

You need to have decent wheels to match the Charlie Cameron and Bobby Hill types

There is a lot of upside with Kennedy who despite having played some impressive games he was moved around a lot.
He might not be one of the quicker boys at the moment but with his endurance profile I can see him getting quicker.
He was one of the better performers with the beep test on Friday.

For what it's worth I think he could be trialed on a wing because his kicking into the forwards should be better than most and his appetite to push back and help the defenders. He might not posses the side step of Bailey Williams but he could have some similar traits.

I've just got a hunch that with a bit of luck he might surprise a few of us with his progress next year.
