Re: Chris Grant resigns
A legend of our club has decided his time is up.
Yet the some of media, supporters, woof posters and I assume big footy posters first reaction is not to celebrate Grants contribution but to take a negative view point.
Society in general loves the negative aspect these days.
More of an In Bruges guy?

It’s more recency bias than negativity around Grant per se in my opinion, however it’s a fair point. The guy has spent half his life giving his all on and off the field and absolutely bleeds red white and blue. Today should be a celebration of all things Grant.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I think it's no secret he and Bevo had a strained relationship due to the Rohan Smith dismissal.
Probably a large reason he's not staying on.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
I don't quite get the angst some might have with Chris Grant because I basically don't think things are as bad between him and Bevo as is being reported in the media. I want to know there is a healthy level of anxiety between the footy boss and coach when the club isn't quite reaching it's potential.
Chris made some hard calls, some worked out and some didn't. The call not to replace Chris Maple probably wasn't right but it got rectified 12 months later. The call to replace Rohan Smith which I didn't quite agree with at the time with Daniel Pratt really worked out.
The next month might provide some more clarity but Chris Grant has done a very good job and we should all love him as much for his Footy boss job as we did with his playing and captaincy days.

Right up there at the very pointy end of the greatest figures the Club has ever produced.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
Hear hear on positivity from woofers. Always found Grant very approachable eg at VFL and VFLW matches. A killer smile and gentle giant presence. He is leaving the club in a good position and we and he should be super proud of achievements that he has contributed to as a player and executive.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
We all love Chris. He is truly a great man and his impact to the fabric of the club has been telling.
Could we talk Luke Darcy into replacing him or does having Sam in the squad sort of cancel that option out?

Let's be honest, the bloke deserves a statue built.
Icon is an understatement.

I dont read it that way. Yes Grant may have been a little miffed at the reduction in his responsibilities, but if it was for the better of the club then overall I think he would be ok with it.
Things weren't working and a change had to be made. His was always a difficult position because he was neither in the detail, but neither was he removed from the day to day. He was asked to be strategic about the football operations and hands on at the same time. It rarely works. I always felt Grant was a better strategic administrator than a tactical operator. Egan is more accomplished in this regard.
As for whether Bevo wins, I think her will find Egan both more accommodating, but also more challenging, because he is in the detail and wearing one hat. He will have access to the same data Bevo has, so if there is a misalignment in results if will be harder to cover with bluster.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
Could also just be a good time to move on. He'd have been on good money throughout his playing career and most of his administrative career.
Maybe at 51, with what I assume is a property portfolio, heaps of savings, and a desire to have his weekends back, continuing in a more and more scrutinised position that may have lost some of its charm might not be worth the effort anymore?
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Re: Chris Grant resigns
Cleary ..reportedly had a bad relationship with Bevo .
With no evidence whatsoever.
The word “ reportedly “ means he made it up or he read it somewhere in some other news article.
The headline then has an article on it praising Grants 30 years at the club.
It’s click bait to see if anyone comes up with a story that they had a fall out.
Terrible rumour monger who is just trying to beat Caro or Kano to the biggest rumour,
They love to make them up for click bait.
