Re: Chris Grant resigns
My absolute favourite as a kid.
When he turned back time against the Lions in 2005 was one of my favourite games I ever went to.

Gosh the media love to make things bigger than they actually are. Maybe Grant wanted a change. Maybe there were some issues but seriously what work place doesn’t. Grant is a legend. It is also good for the club to have a change. Fresh blood. New ideas.

Its always a combination of things isn't it.
He's been at the club so long if he's not enjoying it and or ready for a change then why stick around.
We owe him so much on the podium of important club figures I think.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
Probably a good thing from the clubs perspective but that said, we all love Chris Grant, he was our Superman (like Bont) on field for many years and we were all gutted when he got robbed of the Brownlow, should have had two if we beat Essendon last game 1996, Legend of the club and Legend of the game and Legend bloke having met him a few times.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
I feel if Chris wanted to stay, they'd have let him. Not sure of the need to pit is as him losing out to Beveridge.
He's been a great contributor, and equal best Bulldog I've seen play. It'd be nice to have the options he has at his age, that's for sure!
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Agreed, I doubt we would have pushed him away. Too much is being made of some challenging moments between Grant and Beveridge.
In an ultra competitive environment and unless you are winning flags you would expect some the bosses to clash just a bit.

An out and out legend of the club who when you stack up his on and off field contributions, plus the loyalty shown, deserves to have his Legend grow and grow over time. The Great Man will always be one of my favourites.
The Bevo v Grant stuff is media putting a story before the truth, but if the tension was there because he took a run at an underperforming coach, that’s great in my mind. Expect nothing less from scene in his position.

Bevo is a target for a select few in the media so they're more or less incentivized to blow-up possible scenario's.
It's very likely there were tensions between Grant and Beveridge especially after Rohan Smith being moved on but I question the notion that it's been a dysfunctional relationship since.
Back to Grant, as a player and a leader of the club he set an exceptionally high standard. As an administrator he's done a fine job and I won't let the media agenda divert my focus or appreciation for what he has done for our club.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
1988 pick 105 from Daylesford, Chris Grant became a club legend. Robbed of a Brownlow medal by Ian Collins. Offered a blank cheque to go to Port Adelaide and stayed, Bulldog loyalty to a fault. Who can forget round 21 2000 when Essendon were on a 20 game winning streak and Grant had 29 disposals, 12 marks and 2 goals including the match winner. Chris Grant is right up there with the greatest Bulldogs of all time and we wish him every future success.

The truth is no one knows and with a void of information we speculate.
I am of the belief that Bevo is a pretty stubborn operator and once youre off side with him relationships become untenable.
I think there's merit in the reporting albeit it's lazy and they've really not researched the recency of the claims.
We are all guessing, I don't think we should dismiss it because it may not be puppies and unicorns.

Thank you Legend, hope you have a well deserved stress free break away from the game.

Could we talk Luke Darcy into replacing him or does having Sam in the squad sort of cancel that option out?
I couldn't see why. Chris's daughter Isabella has been playing with our AFLw team since 2020 so the precedent has been set.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: Chris Grant resigns
Luke Darcy or Bob Murphy would fill the exec role beautifully...
