Like any other 'term of endearment' it depends on the context.

If I do soething 'woggish' and a mate tells me I'm a 'typical f***ing wog' or similar then I'll have a chuckle.

If the intent is to use it as an insult I'll take it accordingly.

It was never like that in the 60's/70's, but I do understand things have changed.

I certainly didn't see any jocularity or good humour with the use of this term in the late 70's/early 80's growing up in an Anglo Saxon dominated country town. Quite the opposite in fact.

    A fair bit, yes.

I had an argument with a neighbour a few years ago when my brother was playing cricket in the street and their tennis ball hit his tyre.

Gave me a long lecture about respect, then proceeded to call me a dumb f***ing wog.

    I nearly flattened him.

He was only about 3 years older than I am and I hadn't even turned 20 yet!

    The neighbour?
Sorry imagining it was probably a person old enough to be your dad.

I love how willing people are to make complete arses of themselves and get on the wrong side of co-workers or neighours etc.....you know, people with whom they're living their lives in close proximity!

The term Wog gets thrown around amongst many of the Mediterranean folk at my work. Being Anglo, I let them have it as their own word to use as liberally as they please. Kind of like the "N' word, only those who refer to eachother as "N's" should have the pleasure.

Eade should've been clever enough to find another word to use for him. Like Danny, or something similar.

    G,day Danny.

I was lucky enough to play football besides you at Crossroads as a junior player.

If i am right you played as an under 15 player in our under 17,s when we won the under 17,s premiership ( Underfeated ) at the western oval.

I played in several premerships at Crossroads under 13's 15's and 17's

    My name is John Schuliga.

We had a few handy players as juniors in our team.

    craig brodie
    frank sherri
    bruno
    tatts
    paul malia
    etc

Good to see you go on and take advantage of your skills mate, you where allways a very accurate kick for goal.

    Re: Interview With Danny Del-Re

Lots of good memories of Danny. Played some great games for us. Strong, able to hold his position, a one grab mark and good kick for goal. Played in some big games and can hold his head up high. Thanks Danny and thanks TCD for the interview.
