Re: Ekers
Ekers are lovable so it makes sense. Also, Brad Miller and Shaun Hampson look like male models.

They seem to have their own Eker recruiting team.

Simpson, Reid and Lachie Keffe are just elite Eker.
Lachie Keefe has had 8 years in the system for 40 games and is at his second club. He has been rookied drafted twice and signed as a delisted free agent. Come to think of it, GWS legit have the top 3 Ekers in the AFL. Woweee.

At halftime during the GWS at Etihad a guy walked past us wearing a #26 GWS jumper so we started yelling "HEY DAWSON SIMPSON" at him. He came over (mostly to find out why we knew who Dawson Simpson was) and we established that he was a mate of DS (what other reason would he have for wearing his number) Gotta give it to him but. We may have made a few sarcastic remarks but he gave as good as he got and shook our hands before he left.

Presumably all three of these guys are on minimum wage, maybe they could market themselves as “salary cap space savers”

The guys you call upon to get you out of a pickle.
Nobody's looking for a puppeteer in today's wintry economic climate.

Don't forget De Boer as well. When you're paying top dollar to keep your young stars, you need plenty of draught horses to do the heavy lifting on minimum wage

I'm getting a business idea.
Fat Bastards! Over the salary cap? Can't think what you're going to tell Ken Ley? We have a data bank of 1000s of unfit, untalented middle aged men willing to take a rookie spot @ 50k a season while never presenting any danger of playing a game. Is that the AFL integrity department on the phone? Remember Fat Bastards!

Jesse Stringer you say??? I vaguely remember the name, wasn't he one of the players in the 2016 premiership? Poor bugger, played in 2016 but missed the record breaking 2018, 19, 20, 21, 22 repeatpeatpeatpeatpeat! Including the 2019, 2020 invincible teams that didn't lose a game.

Re: Ekers
I imagine Demetriou and Power would make the player /admin ekers, they have forged out a career in the AFL even though it wasn't totally playing.

Was probably never likely to get a contract but sounds like he did have a crack.
Ex-Pie turns to SANFL after missing out on NBL deal
FORMER Collingwood and Sydney forward Jesse White has missed out on securing a contract with professional basketball club Melbourne United.
After training with the NBL outfit for the past three months, the 29-year-old has announced he will pull on the footy boots next year with SANFL side Glenelg.
White ended his 127-game AFL career at the end of this season, before a coffee with junior basketball teammate, and United star Chris Goulding, sparked his interest in extending his professional sporting career.
"I really wanted to scratch that itch," White told SANFL Radio.
"Meeting with Melbourne United, they really opened their doors to me and it was awesome to get a taste of something different.
"Coming from the AFL, I was at the crossroads where I had to think about in the long run where I would head with that.
"I've only just finished (with United), literally yesterday.
"I really enjoyed it and they're a very professional group."
White will move to Adelaide where he will reunite with new Tigers coach Mark Stone, who was an assistant coach at the Swans.
"They're a young group and just missed out on the finals this year," White said.
"Hopefully I can bring that experience and I'm looking forward to working with some of the younger guys and be a mentor."
White was the 79th overall pick of the 2006 NAB AFL Draft by the Swans.
The 196cm forward/ruckman played 71 games for the Swans before being traded to the Magpies at the end of 2013.
White played 56 games in four seasons for the Magpies, but could only manage four games this year.
