Absolute eker royalty. His only competition are back-up ruckmen when if comes to fringe-player longevity in the game.
Don't forget about Jacob Townsend - just joined his fourth club today in south east Queensland. 60 games in 9 seasons as a non-ruckman is tremendous eking.

Re: Ekers
Sam Reid is a hard at it player who should be commended for playing as long as he has with that dreaded diabetes. Good luck Sammy.

Update time. I am now weighting favourably to non-rucks

Freo- Reece Conca
Cats- Lachie Henderson
Suns- Jacob Townsend (9 years, 4 clubs, 60 games)
GWS- Sam Reid (drafted 6 times + signing as a DFA once. Wow)
Hawks- Keegan Brooksby
North- Tom Campbell
Dees- Mitch Brown: 10 years, 75 games, 4 clubs
Port- Trent McKenzie
Tigers- Kamdyn McIntosh
Saints- Shaun McKernan: 12 years, 87 games, 3 clubs
Swans- Tom Hickey: 10 years, 102 games, 4 clubs

Re: Ekers
Sam Reid , extraordinary history of 4 times on the rookie list. True journey man and great admiration for his determination to play AFL.
I think Roarke smith is threatening to gain traction on that title .

Re: Ekers
Reid is an awesome eker but he loses points for not being on the main GWS list for 2 seasons while he was development coach. Of the non-rucks, Jacob Townsend and Mitch Brown are both putting together an amazing run of consecutive seasons ekeing at multiple different clubs. Ditto Shaun McKernan.

Coming back after coaching for 2 seasons should give Reid EXTRA eking points, IMO.

It's an impressive feat no doubt. But I love the players, especially non-ruckmen, who continue to carve out a career every single year despite being the 40th-44th person to get a list spot in any given year.
I admired Sam Reid ever since that super-courageous bit of play that resulted in a goal againat the Cats early in the last qtr of that Friday night blockbuster in the penultimate round of 2009. I mistook him for Matty Boyd, such was the courage displayed. Goes without saying he is easily my most liked player at that cesspit of a franchise.

The Rhino was outstanding. Just so average in so many ways, but Carlton just had to have him on the list.

I think so too. Being off the list then getting back on is a bigger ekercheivment than continuous ekerdom.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Is Ling Jong an Eker?
He's a great guy and has had a horrid run.
Love him to turn it around.

64 games across 9 seasons, time on the rookie list - yeh he's an Eker. Loses points for being a one club player and never being delisted.
Roarke gets ahead by never being on the main list, being delisted and redrafted twice. 23 games across 6-7 years.

Ryan Garthwaite is a better candidate. 9 games across 4 seasons (0 in 2017 and 2020) and has won a fifth year on the list in 2021.

Don't agree Rocco?
Lachie Henderson is no eker either but hard to find one at Geelong.
