Re: The official Sam Reid/Daniel Currie Memorial Eker Thread
Tom Campbell is either re-signed, or expected to re-sign, with St Kilda.
Stat from Useless AFL Stats:
Blicavs v Campbell. Mark Blicavs (Geelong) and Tom Campbell (W Bull/Nth M/St Kilda) are both 31 this year and have both taken the field in 10 seasons of AFL.
For players with 10+ seasons Mark Blicavs has the highest average games per season of an AFL player at 22.7 per season whilst Campbell has the lowest at 5.6 per season.
For Blicavs to ensure top spot next season he will need to play a minimum 18 games whilst Campbell will need to play a maximum 10 to retain last. There nearest challengers are Jake Lloyd (200 games/9 seasons) and Andrew Phillips (62 games/10 seasons)

It's always darkest before dawn. Delisting period is the worst but surviving, the best.

I still remember how big ‘Cam-Head’ was for about 10 weeks. Articles in the Hun and everything. Now Campbell has outlasted Roughead in the competition. Few would’ve predicted that in the day (except maybe a strong breeze broke every bone in Roghie’s body and ruled him out indefinitely).

There's an alternate universe where Campbell played in the GF instead of Boyd.

He definitely could have if he improved as a ruck forward. Whatever the reasons were for him not getting better in the role are kind of irrelevant, because no team since his departure from us has looked like rekindling the glimpse of it.
To me the guy has found his level, and is probably OK with that. For the chunk of his years where he could be completely screwing his liver and carrying on like a dipshit he's instead in an AFL environment with the best health care and disciplines at relatively high pay versus society and every opportunity to set himself up for his next fifty years. BTC has a good professional life, better than most could have predicted and well within the Eker spirit.

Well said. Making an AFL list is an achievement in itself. Staying on a list for 10 years is marvellous. He may not have been the best footballer going around but kudos for doing the hard work to put yourself in a position to be a contracted footballer for 10+ years. Amazing achievement. Well done BTC.

Re: The official Sam Reid/Daniel Currie Memorial Eker Thread
He's not in Tom Campbell territory but Sam Weideman is moving on up in the eker community. 7 years for 59 games as a non ruckman is some nice ekering. There is some trade talk about him, a move of clubs to continue on his current path could really establish his eker legacy.

His big problem up forward is that he had hands of stone, wasn't a clean mark at all. Could roost it though.
