2 Barry Hall Articles By Carro

    Caroline Wilson | November 25, 2009

THE paradox that is Barry Hall was evident two days ago at his first weight session in the Whitten Oval gym. Word had spread that the recruit was about to challenge Will Minson's record lift of 150 kilograms, and Bulldogs young and old began to gather around.

One half of Hall became instantly uncomfortable. ''I am actually quite shy,'' he confessed yesterday. The 32-year-old did not want to stand out in any way in just his first week at the new clubrooms.

''Barry's of the old school,'' said his new coach, Rodney Eade. ''He believes a player has to earn his stripes before he becomes the centre of attention.''

BARRY Hall faces instant dismissal from the Western Bulldogs should he lose control on the football field and face another serious striking charge.

The club has been given AFL approval to insert a special clause into Hall's two-year contract that would end his playing career should there be a repeat of the Brent Staker or Ben Rutten incidents.

However, AFL official Ken Wood has told the club to re-word the Hall clause to be in line with the player code of conduct in the most recent collective bargaining agreement. The 32-year-old would be sacked if he brought the club or the game into disrepute for an incident on or off the playing arena.

I still can't believe Barry Hall will be standing in our F50 next season.

It sounds like he will be a great influence on our young forwards.

Let's hope the likes of Grant & Jones are taken under Hall's wings and learn what is required to make it as a tall forward in the modern game.

I'd rather see him moving and leading inside our forward 50 next season!

What would happen if Barry kicks a few big bags and then clocks someone? Good article from the gossip monger. Just sounds Barry is in a happier state than he was in Sydney

My guess is he'd get a breather for a while! Could keep him fresh (for that 3rd year Rocket hasn't discounted!)

Not just our forwards - how much quicker will Boumann & Williams develop with Bazza to stand next to at training?
He's going to be good for our list.

I wonder if some support from a certain Bulldogs board member has anything to do with it.
