    Percentage?

We don't seem to put sides away, and been flogged = poor percentage.

Are we digging a hole for ourselves come finals placings?

    Re: Percentage?

It worries me. I was hoping for a percentage booster from the Collingwood game but that didn't eventuate and needless to say things have declined since then. Geelong's massive percentage would be a lovely buffer to have.

Getting to the finals is an issue in itself however, we just have been incapbale of putting teams away this year. If we make the finals it will likely mean that we will be one of the lower ranked teams which might force us to play interstate.

Similiar to last year isn't it. Our game style is pretty taxing meaning that it is hard to sustain for 4 qtr's. We are prone to having lull's in the game when the side almost collectively draws breathe, if we are playing ok at this point we normally can survive this flat spot. When we are having an off game, like last Sunday well we can all see the end result.

I think we have to worry about winning enough games that will enable us to firstly make the finals. I expect a better second half to the season, but things dont look good.

We were actually playing better football but still losing against the power teams

This seems to be more evident this year than last even when we had the long injury list

Modify the expectation to get enough wins is now the main aim. If we can improve the percentage then great but we just need to get the wins.

We definitely need to belt a few sides to get that percentage up, If/when we make the finals percentage as we know means a great deal.

    Re: Percentage?

We have had the opportunity to get some % on the board, like against Melbourne and Collingwood and even Carlton on the weekend when we got to 22 points ahead but didn't go on with it.

Why don't we (can't we?) put sides away?

When was the last we got on top and then hammered a side?

Last year we hammered Richmond in round one by 119 points and followed up the next week with 47 points over Melbourne, Percentage at that stage was huge. The next best was against Port last year , but other than that not many others at all

    Re: Percentage?

    Thanks for that.

    Rare as hen's teeth.

Aside from a couple exceptions, we lack either the killer instinct or the legs or the forwardline to really put sides away.

    Which is it?

I really believe its the style of game we play and the legs to keep it up for four quarters. But then again, I have been following the dogs for a very long time and other than the 1985 team, we never seem to have that killer instinct.
