    Dale Morris awaits doc's verdict

    Mark Stevens
    From: Herald Sun
    September 13, 2010 12:00AM

Western Bulldogs defender Dale Morris needs the green light from a spinal trauma specialist to line up against St Kilda in Saturday night's preliminary final.

Morris completed a gruelling running session on Saturday as his teammates prepared for battle against Sydney.

The All-Australian pulled up pain-free and was further buoyed by a positive scan result yesterday.

A potential rematch with St Kilda superstar Nick Riewoldt looms, with Morris considered at least an 80-20 chance of playing.

Specialist Dr Peter Wilde will have the final say when Morris visits him tomorrow, armed with his latest scan.

Morris suffered a cracked vertebrae in the Dogs' Round 21 loss to Sydney, after crashing heavily to the SCG turf in a tussle with Adam Goodes.

    * Just noticed this is a re-post. There is an article in todays Herald Sun (which I assumed was this one, and there is no link for) which says now that the Dogs are confident that Morris will get the green light. It also mentions that Everitt, Hill & Moles are in the mix for a spot, with Hill the most likely.

Hill most likely . On what basis ? Tantalising maybe but can't be for his form or intensity. How has Mark Stevens come up with that ? Thought he'd be closer to it than to make such a suggestion. I'm getting worried and hoping it's just a ruse. Would've thought Jones would be a more likely proposition than Josh.

    Yep.

With the pressure St.Kilda apply we will be forced to kick long so we probably need another 'big body' who might be able to take a grab or atleast compete with the likes of Gilbert, Blake and Fisher in the air.

I would definitely have Jones in front of Hill.

Playing Hill this week would be an even bigger brain explosion than giving Mitch Hahn another contract.

I wonder if Moles could tag?

Now that is taking things too far SS although I get your drift.

Perhaps one day but i think particularly in the second half of the year, he seems to have lacked fitness and intensity. Moles was a ball magnet earlier in the year and he has found himself gettting less and less of the pill, he also indicates that he struggles to chase an opponent (gets the tired run action). Not sure why exactly but he's certainly dropped off throughout the season. Perhaps he will have a good pre-season to recover.

THE WESTERN Bulldogs are confident defender Dale Morris will be fit for Saturday night's preliminary final against St Kilda on Saturday night.

The Dogs are still waiting for the final word from Morris' specialist but have been buoyed by his fitness this week.

"We're pretty confident with the way he is moving," assistant coach Paul Williams said on Tuesday. "He trained Friday last week and today again really well and we'll hopefully find out later today."

Williams also said Jordan Roughead, who trained on Tuesday would be considered for selection.
Shaun Higgins trained with the group on Tuesday but will not be considered as he continues to overcome thyroiditis.

If Roughy comes in, they wont play Jones. Minson & Hooper would make way for Morris & Roughy.

They couldn't possibly play him, he was seriously man-handled by Jacobs in the VFL and the ruck battle this week will be crucial.

Plus Minno played probably his best game for the season against Sydney.

I agree with the bolded part. However if the article has any truth to it, Roughy would come in for Minson.
The only reason would be as he can provide a marking target in the forward line, something we are lacking.
Minson does not offer us that

Not sure how you can come to that conclusion. The article says Roughead will be considered.

I did not come to any conclusion. I said if Roughy is considered, it is obvious who will go out.
Is it that difficult to understand?

That's great news about Dale. But jeez, a fractured vertabrae, sounds nasty to muck around with.

Josh had a pretty average game on the we but looks more aggressive. Laid a few good tackles. I think he is improving.

Just saw Ben Hudson outside my office feeding his face. Gave him a wave and pointed to my Bulldog badge, worn at all times.
Gave me a bit of a thumbs up and then continued inhaling his sandwich.
