Western Bulldogs CEO Campbell Rose quits but future rosie

Mark Stevens - Herald Sun - 17 November

SENIOR staffers from rival clubs were quick to come knocking after Campbell Rose resigned as Western Bulldogs chief executive.

With officials from all clubs on the Gold Coast for a key AFL conference, it is understood Bulldogs powerbrokers were pleasantly surprised when three to four potential contenders emerged.

If the Dogs appoint from within, former player Simon Garlick is well-placed, but a newly formed sub-committee will cast a wide net. President David Smorgon is buoyed by the fact the Dogs are seen as an appealing prospect in the wider AFL community - a far cry from eight years ago when Rose took over.

"We will look at all options," Smorgon said.

"The job at the Dogs is now a very attractive role."

I know the editors at the Herald Sun aren't the smartest people around but you'd think they'd know that it's spelt 'rosy' not 'rosie'.

Also, looking at the comments section, there appears to still be a lot of people wanting to take pot shots at the club.

Despite all this, good to see that others are interested in the role, really shows how far we've come as a club to have such recognition within the AFL community.

    Heh!

That's a good thing. I hate it when everyone feels sorry for us or tells us that we've always been their second favorite club.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

You're right, it's exactly like Bay 13 and not even as literate. Almost any topic involving the Bulldogs inevitably attracts badly spelled diatribes and references to you-know-who, and how he would have won the flag for us, LOL.

I'm assumng that he's the bloke who had the job at Geelong before Brian Cook. If he was then he's the CEO who left the basket case that Cook and Costa had to clean up.

Maybe he isnt the right man for us!

If you are right, he may be the Peter Rhodes of CEO's.
