    The 'delicate', 'graceful' Mr Hudson

'The People's Beard' helped to make the Bulldogs a better place
    Bob Murphy
    August 25, 2011

BEARDS are flying at half mast today as a tribute to our retired comrade, Ben ''The People's Beard'' Hudson.

The decision has come as a shock to many of his admirers. It's fine for Ben to retire, but the beard that has long adorned his face is, in fact, the property of the people. For some, you sense there will never be closure.

Still, it might be best to move on from the messy endings of such matters and just raise a glass - or indeed, a razor - to one of our favourite Bulldogs and his trusty, hairy sidekick.

I love Bobby's Columns. That one really made me chuckle. You could sense the admiration he has for the Beard. For Huddo as well

    Loved this line:

Recruiting older players is not an exact science. Some just don't work out, some go loopy and write books
Wonder who that's a reference to?

Awesome article, he's my inspiration for my recent football comeback as a ruckman. I've had to keep my beard.

Great article indeed! Love your work Bobby! All "beards at half-mast"! Hehehe! These two obviously have a great relationship. I recall at the trainers function last year, when I got Bob to sign my Beard scarf, he said something like...."I think the Beard will be here later, so that all his disciples can meet him!!!" Was chuckling lots!

What a great article by Bob and a great tribute to one of the most under rated ruckman in the AFL.

Good article by Bob. Bit of humour - but also some good sentiment towards his mate, and a very good player for the club over the last 4 years.
