Nah, I think they genuinely believe he's going to be the man for them. Surely an institution of their calibre wouldn't get over-excited at this time of year.

Of course. We poor hillbillies with no money for coaches decided not to want change his marking technique which messiah Mick has changed in a month. Smashing. Yeah capitalism.
Does the article reference his contested work has been playing on Yarran?

They were going to but Chrissy has been smashing Liam in all the other contesting drills than marking so they decided to keep mum about it.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Ironically his marking was the only thing he could do well. I don't understand how a different making technique is going to help when the ball lands 5 metres behind him.

The technique involves a stepladder.

He used to keep his elbows by his side and try and mark the ball on his chest, as opposed to extending his arms. It's one of the things people say Boyd does very well
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

I think it makes sense what Mick is suggesting as Liam has a tendency to run under the ball, but I don't see how telling him to just jump straight up is going to fix that. When you go for a mark you adjust your leap according to where you are positioned related to the ball, what the obstacle is in front of you etc. It is then up to you to leap and get your balance right for the situation, ie don't leap in the air with your legs straight and upper body going ahead of your lower half.
Liam struggles to work this out, maybe it's his eyesight or he can't work out how to position himself in relation to his surroundings but I don't think that is an easy fix. Rather than telling him to leap straight up I would of said lift one leg up and use your knee/shin to protect you from pack and also to act as a spring/cushion, but if he couldn't work this out himself then he's not going to all of a sudden be cured.
I'm tipping he will have a reasonable year as his confidence will be high at a new club, then he will fall away again.
