I wonder if he gets the $500,000 in salary he had in contract for 2018?

Apparently yes, or at least a substantial portion of it. It's certainly included in their cap and I was told months ago that Vickery would not be returning to the Hawks in 2018 but that decision was out of Ty's hands. They wanted him out of the club.

Talk about blowing $1,000,000 for absolutely nothing!

Hawks have had a few busts with recycling tall players. (Lake the exception)

McEvoy, Gunston, Frawley, Gibson.
A million dollars for Vickery to do virtually nothing. That's a howler. Richmond must be stoked watching this.

I liked Titus O'Reily's post on the subject.

I don't know that any of the above qualify as 'recycled' players given they were actively pursued.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure Vickery himself qualifies.

Yep, the point being all the same category whether recycled or second home. Hawthorn have done pretty well with getting in tall talent from other clubs. This Vickery blunder aside.

Jack Fitzpatrick too. We live in a big glass recruited KPP house. So I don’t throw stones...

Re: Other Club Delistings 2017 - Any interest.
I always thought Skipper was a bit hard done by at the Hawks. They picked him up as a DFA Rookie, he played 15 games in 1 year then they cut him again after recruiting Hale and/or McEvoy. I wouldn't classify him as a bust for them.
