Yeah, he did. Exclusively.
And he was woeful.

He’s useless after getting any sort of bump. I know their midfield is paper thin but I’ve got no idea why they’re trying to shoe horn him into the middle. The hard stuff just isn’t his go.

He attended 15 centre bounces, the second most of any Essendon player, for 6 touches, 5 clangers and 0 tackles. #midfieldbeast

6 touches is generous. Essendon paying a fortune in wages for a soft half forward is hilarious. Stringer may look OKish in the middle when every opposition player runs to stop the Bont and he is running around by himself but put minimal pressure on him and it ain't good.
Just let him stand at half forward and worry about his shoulder. He might attack the ball on occasion but I wouldn't count on it. What you can count on is Jakey sneaking out the back and trying to get the cheapy.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: Following our ex's...................
I get that Stringer let the club down last year and I was highly critical of that at the time but we all know that if he gets his act together he was a risk worth taking by the Bombers. He was never a midfield beast for us and I think Essendon might find that out as well.
It really comes down to how well he can work off Daniher and their other forwards.

He would have to completely transform the way he plays just to make it as a forward. The days of teams putting tall immobile defenders like Mitch Brown or Hartigan on him are over. He’ll be getting elite mid sized defenders like Rampe who won’t allow him to cheat forward for the easy goals.
And it will only get worse if they persist with him in he midfield.

I watched the match yesterday with Stringer and thought he was shocking. He ambled from one stoppage to another and looked all at sea. Based on that game you wonder whether his best footy is behind him.

That passage of play when his direct opponent (Graham) waltzed past him for an easy running goal sums up his work rate.
If I was an Essendon supporter (ew), I wouldn't be writing him off on one performance but I'd be pretty nervous.

Yep, that's his go. Unfortunately in the modern game players of his type will never get the space required in F50 to showcase their bag of tricks more than a handful of times - he found that out the hard way in the last 2 years after his breakout 2015 season when opposition clubs didn't clamp down on him enough. That's why unskilled tackling machines like Butler and Costanza are now more in demand than Stringer's type.
Still, he's more than welcome to come to the 2026 premiership reunion.

Re: Following our ex's...................
His conditioning surprised me, that is, lack there of. Whether it was the Essendon jumper that didn’t flatter him but he looked to be far too heavy.
I would’ve thought that the want to impress at his new Club and with all that played out in the off season that we would at least have seen a fitter, stronger version. For Jake’s sake he needs to work harder on getting his body in better shape to give him the best chance to make a go of his second chance. And by hook or by crook Essendon is the one Club with their ‘whatever it takes’ mantra where this shouldn’t be an obstacle for him.

If effectively being kicked out of the club he won a flag with and finding only one suitor for your services isn't motivation enough to get yourself into peak condition, nothing will be.
I won't write him off after a pre-season game but all the funny hair cuts and chest tattoos can't hide the fact that he isn't anywhere close to being in elite physical condition and that certainly should be ringing alarm bells.

I know it is only a preseason match, and the Bombers didn't have their best in, but reading (i didn't see the game) Essendon got done by 87 points was music to my ears.
