Re: MRO Thread
This video review just show that Christian has no idea on what he is doing. My main gripe is Ben Brown and his non strike on Buntine. I would have though a fine for rough conduct would have been the call.
Just listen to Christian excuse for the let off is sending the wrong message to the world of AFL who goes to spoil the ball with their elbow?
I would have let him off if he hit him with his fist that would seem more plausible.
I just wonder if one of our guys did the same thing what the penalty would have been and not someone who is in the running for the Coleman.

Stratton - two week penalty. Very light in my opinion. The stomping charge was worth at least 2

This is just utter bull shit. Really getting sick of the AFL - it is being spoilt by morons at HQ

Umpire didn't even deem it 50 worthy at the time.
On the plus side Port have lost Amon and Howard to suspension.

Couldn’t agree more. Pay a 50 metre penalty.
The AFLPA really needs to take a stand on these fines by Christian and Hocking for what really is just a reasonable attempt by a player to make a contest.
If the player doesn’t contest it with some level of desperation he will get called out for it in his Monday review with his line coach.

I honestly think they have lost the plot at AFL House.

To be fair they have only ever had a vague connection to reality. It comes from running the Biggest Show in Town with no real competition from any other sport or entertainment. They think they are geniuses when in actual fact they are very, very lucky. The AFL has always just been a Boy's Club.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: MRO Thread
Michael Christian must be kidding, was Bont supposed to dive out of the way of the oncoming Haynes? Bont had pretty much come to a stop when the impact occured.

Pay it and move on it was 100% worth it.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

For sure but players are often excused when there is no realistic alternative way to contest the ball. I'm not sure what else Bont could have done?

What a joke the AFL has become.

Re: MRO Thread
Clearly Christian is short for his end of season trip and needed to come up with cash quick. There's standover men in Melbourne who wouldn't try to extort cash like that. If that's $2,000 I guess players are going back to playing for the live of the game because there's going to be no money when routine free kicks cost $3,000 into $2,000.

He knew he was going to contact hard and made that choice. He could have certainly lessened the impact but choose not to. I think it was intentional he wanted to hurt him no doubt, Bont was seeing red a bit at that stage of the match. I imagine if one of our blokes was hit like that we'd be wanting it looked at pretty closely too.

Re: MRO Thread
$2000 well worth it (easy for me to say when its not my cash!!).
I actually think the bump and show of physicality had some impact on the contest, and the feeling that came into the game worked for us.
