Re: Proactive Poaching
Someone who hasn't been mentioned yet - Brandon Ellis.
Carlton were certainties to get him as a FA, now they have apparently gone cold. He is linked to "a club in the top 8" and while no club was named, we did have interest in him last time he was uncontracted.
Surprised he's in the top ten earners at Richmond.

Everything I have heard about trading from the club, has been about the indigenous programme and the ambition to grow it.
It obviously points to Jamarra being at the Bulldogs in 2021.

Re: Proactive Poaching
So in two years we've lost:
KPF: Redder, Cloke & Tom Boyd (not replaced by draft of trade yet)
Ruck: Roughy, Campbell (a rookie ruck only replaced)
KPD: Hamling (3 years ago), Roberts (likely), Adams, Collins, Morris (ins: FA Trengove, drafted Young)
Our KPD stocks are only JT, Cordy & Young. Looking at bigs that have left, and not fully replaced, I can see an argument for going hard at two KPDs this year, and maybe a KPF. Plus a Martin type. We've been good injury wise this year, but we have very little depth to cover a couple going down from the list we currently have.

Currently our entire fortunes hinge on the ability of a 19 year old to stay healthy and fulfil his potential.
If we end up with Keath, Bruce & say Smith we’ve nailed this trade period and taken the burden off Naughton.
Martin would be good but it’s gojng to take overs in both salary and picks to get him away from Carlton.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Re: Proactive Poaching
I'd look at Patrick Kerr, delisted by Carlton. Has performed well at VFL level.
Our list situation is getting tight though, not too many spots free.

I don't mind if he goes on at all. He's looked both great and at times appeared to be struggling.
If he's fit enough then he should be maintained
I wonder if we were to win the flag if he would just go out on a high this year

I suspect we might only have room for 2 players from other clubs, 3 would be an absolute stretch
Interesting decisions to be made

Sure are. By the club and by individual players.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

The consensus figure is us having $1.7M to spend. Hypothetically, say Morris had $300,000 attached to his name just in case he was playing on. That puts our spending power at $2M. Take the money from Roberts & Webb (and other/s maybe) over and above the replacement draftee wages and put it towards re-signing Dale/Williams. Leave some aside for Bailey Smith, the rest of next year should be ok. So up to $1.8M (plus 2% cap rise) this year. Only looking at three players, if we can get three 'yes' responses from mature role players. Keath, Bruce & Martin/Smith at competitive wages still has us with money in the bank. Some 'yes' responses would be nice as things move along.

Players aside, only five list turnovers is too small. If Jong or Lynch have the same post season review Cloke got (enjoy playing VFL next year to the end of your contract), do you think they stay?

Jong is a tough one due to his mental health situation. If he doesn't have any suitors I would keep him on the list if he wants to stay.
Surely someone would be interested in Lynch for a late pick if we need make the list space?

North offered Lynch a three year deal to leave, and he stayed for two years. His first didn't get a senior game. Maybe North still have interest considering if he went there last year, he'd still be at Arden St for another two years.
Laterally, GCS keep losing their outside runners, Saad, Ah Chee, Martin, Aaron Hall. I wonder if GCS had some interest. He can marginally sweeten the Martin tree.

It’s too small but not surprising. Over the last few years we have been very conservative with our list changes.

Yeah I think Lynch would appeal to the Suns.
Slightly older. He really is a good player in my opinion. Good size, pace and skills. Sad to see him go actually but hard to squeeze him in the 22.
