That sling tackles of a moderate nature are within spitting distance of KO'ing players like Richards is a seperate issue. I'm happy to keep the sling tackle like this at one week with a plea and to increase the suspension significantly on players causing a brain injury.
I finish where I start though, one week is fair.
I think so. We can't just wait to see the extent of an injury before making the call

Yep, as long as they're consistent then its a fair punishment for what is a dangerous act.

Re: MRO Thread
The only thing one should expect is constancy. If that can't be achieved they need to review the process.
Fair cop for the tackle and anyone that does the same should expect the same penalty.
That includes the brownlow favorites of this world.

and that is my concern. Viney gets off but Hayes cops a week for a sling tackle.
As TD said, it seems our players always cop the harsher treatment, and there are so mnay examples it is not funny

I have no issue with Hayes getting a week. It was what I expected when I saw the vision,
The issue is really about Viney being exonerated. I am unable to comment on that as I have not seen the relevant incident.

As for the sling tackle, why the hell do players do it. Even in the rough old days it was very rare you actually brought the player to ground when tackling.

There should be zero need to lift a player off the ground like that in a tackle.
In Rugby, if you lift a player off the ground in a tackle and they come down on their shoulder, you're going to the sin bin for 10 minutes. If they come down on their head you're taking no further part in the game.

If you do that in union hen you won't have much footy to play for a year or so.
I just don't understand why a player would do it to another player. I'm as competitive as they come but I can understand what goes around, comes around. If you do it to another player then another player will do it to you and I can't understand why you'd invite that sort of violence.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: MRO Thread
I am actually happy with Will getting a week if it is consistently applied.
But Will is a no-one and is easy to go after. You can bet your house that if it was a big name they would find a way to judge the impact 'Low' so it only attracts a fine or that it doesn't cross the threshold of impact needed to be considered a reportable offence (like in the Viney case).
They really f****ed things up with Ablett last year, giving him multiple chances when they should have pinged him first time round. Fyfe has been a thug/careless the last few years and has been excused (almost) every time he gets cited (sometimes they don't even cite him and go quiet on clearly bookable offences). Oh, there was also a few instances with Green that come to mind.
I have zero confidence in the system. It is flawed and it infuriates me.

Not true BAD, one of the things to raise EJ's ire was for one of our players to tackle without dumping the opposition player.

* Sydney Stack charged with tripping.
* Kysaiah Pickett and Charlie Spargo both from Melbourne suspended for a breach of Covid-19 rules and this on top of Ollie Wines and Bomber Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.

Re: MRO Thread
The Footscray Football Club trading as the Western Bulldogs really need to question why Hayes gets a week and Burgoyne gets a fine of $1000 for the exact same action ie the sling tackle. This is just utter Bullshit. I am sick and tired of this, we need to make a stand. Time and time again our players receive a heavy penalty and other players get away with it. I can name a dozen of these over the years
