Bob and Andy love having a giggle. They get that the drive slot is the time to unwind and keep it chilled and they do it superbly.

Cheers RS. I'm just waiting for the presser on AFL.com now
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

17 round, 153 game 'journey. 16 minute quarters is an interesting one.
Kicks off tomorrow night.

Playing from tomorrow.
17 rounds. First 4 then trying to squeeze more in quickly.
16 min plus time on quarters.
Could be no fans at all this year.

I give Gil enormous credit for working through such a complex issue and doing it properly, in spite of the AFLPA and their appalling stance.
He struck all the right notes around care and concern from a health perspective, whilst acknowledging the real dangers facing the clubs and stakeholders.
I fully expect the players to take a hit that is commensurate with the reduced season, and not to hold the clubs and competition to ransom. They would not dare push their barrow for a 22 game season now, otherwise this will end up like the baseball strike from 20 odd years ago and the complete breakdown of relationship between players and fans.

Coronavirus is known to be far more contagious and deadly in time on.

So that easy goal we give up in the last two minutes of play (between 18 & 20 minutes) each week is a thing if the past?

Game time needs to be reduced permanently, maybe to 18 mins plus time on.
I hope both measures become permanent.

I love me some Disaster Capitalism™, AFEL-style.
Except, less running = less fatigue = more 18-man basketball-style zone flooding = AFEL concluding "we need more rules changes to counteract the new rule change!"
But I digress, contrived footy's preferable to no footy. Until the annual early-season umpiring overcorrections begin.

Re: Coronavirus: could the 2020 AFL season be called off?
I'm pretty impressed with the AFL and how they have handled it to be honest.
Yes, the decision to play came very late - but it had to - this virus situation is changing daily and the decision makers appear to have consulted heavily with experts and stakeholders.
If the season is cancelled next week - so be it - but armed with the information they have right now, I think everyone has gotten together as an industry and acted pretty impressively to date.
In terms of how the dogs have handled it in house, a good mate from within the club has told me that he is extremely proud of the club, and that Ameet has led extremely well and although there is a lot of uncertainty has made everyone as comfortable as possible.
There's some pretty good people in footy.
