Re: MRO Thread
I kinda don’t really have a problem with this. He *did* sling him and he *could’ve* injured him. If they had’ve suspended Burgoyne like they should have then it would be more clear, but it’d be an even worse system failure if a mistake can dictate the entire operation of the body.
It’s just a week, and a week where we play in driving rain at that. We’ll live.

The nature of our game is that tackles are going to hurt if you throw someone to the ground. Have a look at the weekend - Bailey Smith slammed into the turf, concussed, Matt Rowel slammed into the turf, shoulder injury out for season - no reports (nor should there be)
Not sure where all this is going to lead us - no tackling?, touch footy? I really don't know. However, in this case the North player copped a minor injury, and to me it is play on - they got this wrong - again.

Re: MRO Thread
So the assumption now is that Crozier’s tackling action is a one week suspension moving forward because it has the chance of injury.
That fact that Mahoney went off the ground with some blood trickle had no influence on the MRO’s decision in the first place.
I don’t believe it just as I’m not convinced that Crozier’s action was a double motion sling in the first place.
If Crozier’s example, being based on potential for injury, is used as the precedent moving forward there should in theory be a lot of one week suspension on the horizon, or as BD suggests we’re moving towards touch footy.
I’m glad we challenged it as it now formalises the MRO’s decision for the minimum punishment for a chance of injury injury offence, not that I agree with the direction for an incident like this.

Re: MRO Thread
Doesn't every tackle have a risk of injury, the Rowell & Bazlenka tackles being prime examples?

I don't blame Doug. No commentators that I know have even discussed this. Different if it was a media darling

I understand Dougy but your not the market anymore. The market is the 4-12 year old boys and girls and more importantly their parents who are weighing up what sport they want their kids to focus on.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

The irony is, the more they dilute the game to make it more palatable for soccer moms and their kids, the more unenjoyable it becomes to play and will ultimately turn fans and potential plays away.

* Ben Long - Straight to the tribunal (careless conduct / severe impact)
* Dylan Shiel - Two weeks (careless conduct / high impact)

Shiel contesting two weeks as Taylor cleared of facial fracture. Lets hope the tribunal judges this the same as Crozier when the chairman said there was potential for injury.

Yeah, but let's not forget that Crozier drew a trickle of blood.
