Hawkins is really not keen on a stint in country footy post-AFL, is he? Think he will be over the suspensions threshold to ever play again.

Hawkins to challenge. Actually seems a bit unlucky to cop an intentional grading compared to most other cases. Looked like he was most likely intending to elbow the freo player in the chest at it went marginally high.

It was also extremely soft. Just a push back with the elbow and hardly a strike, but the Freo player made it look a whole lot worse.
Personally I cannot understand why Brisbane just accepted the McStay ban. Jetta ran into McStay with his head down.
Michael Christian seems to have lost all knowledge of what happens on a footy field.

Re: MRO Thread
In my opinion, If you throw a clenched fist or an elbow on any football field you deserve a suspension, especially recidivists like Hawkins.

Excellent news that Vandermeer has escaped with a fine. I was worried that action would get him a week as the MRO have clamped down on bumping front-on contact.

If it is the incident I think it is a free kick wasn't even warranted. Balta caused it, but McStay at Brisbane copped 2 weeks for being on the end of a more forcible headbutt.

It was like slow motion and he hardly touched him. Even Vandermeer at the time was surprised a free was paid. To me Balta was gunning for a free kick.

Re: MRO Thread
Sam Mayes given 1 match suspension for his hit on Dunks. IMO he’s lucky and another benefactor of the MROs shortsighted view in suspension based on outcome. Mayes chose to shoulder to the head well after the ball had cleared. There was absolutely no need for any contact and a few cms difference and it’s a total knockout for Dunks. He just about nearly did a boxers knockout punch to the chin. If the AFL is serious about stamping this stuff out, that should get 3-4 weeks.

How could that be classed as careless. It was absolutely intentional and after the ball had gone. That is the ACT that should cop at least 2 weeks as a minimum.
If you compare the one where McStay copped 2 weeks for the head butt from Neville Jetta it just shows the system is broken.
Intent should be penalised over outcome.
