RIP sweet prince.
Country footy: GWS veteran Sam Reid signs for Echuca in the GVL
Why have one Reid, when you can have two — it’s the mantra Echuca is living by in 2022.
The Goulburn Valley powerhouse has announced the signing of 108-game AFL veteran Sam Reid to land one of the first big blows in the recruiting stakes.
Reid will link up alongside his brother Ben who returned to the club in 2021 and has VFL experience with Geelong.
The 32-year-old’s arrival only strengthens his family’s connection to the area with his father Geoff also a past player.
At the elite level, Reid proved himself as the ultimate team man playing a variety of different roles as desired GWS coach Leon Cameron.
And Echuca co-coach Simon Maddox doesn’t expect that to change when he pulls on the bottle green at Victoria Park.
“Sam is the ultimate utility,” he said.
“It’s going to be a luxury to be able to play him where we need him depending on the situation of the game.
I also can't believe Sam's brother is named Ben, like the other Sam and Ben Reid.

Sam Reid footy journey end is full of irony. What a legend, ekking out 108 games. not sure that number could disqualify him now, but the number of years and being delisted/rookied/drafting, amazing journey of resilence .
Blame Ben for his premature excite ( if an eker can ever be in control of their exit) . In the end he choose to enjoy the rest of his football career with people he loves. Well done Sam.

Re: The official Sam Reid/Daniel Currie Memorial Eker Thread
Where would BTC sit as an eker if he managed to land a spot at another club after a single year stint at the Saints? Averaging 5.5 games a season and starting next year as his eleventh on a list across three clubs is magnificent eker territory as it is, another club with not many games contributed between now and then could really do a lot for his profile in these parts.
Nobody's looking for a puppeteer in today's wintry economic climate.

I think being an ‘ultimate utility’ certainly helps if you want to be an eker.

Tom Campbell making his debut with the Saints tomorrow. His 55th game for his third club since being drafted in 2012. An average of 6 per season.

We joke but he would be best 22 with us right now.

So would Minson. Actually so would Ed Barlow as 2nd ruck relief/time trial spoiler for Crossy, but I may be biased in that assessment as I was the last person left standing on the Ed Barlow bandwagon (even Ed jumped off before I did).

I’d play Nic Bruton before Ed Barlow.

I'll be the first to admit the Ed Barlow bandwagon was never a big one.

Come on Sedat, that didn't happen.
Ed couldn't jump.
