Gold Coast is prepared to trade pick No.7 to the club that picks up Jack Bowes and the last two years of his back-ended deal. Hawks, Saints, Cats, Dons among clubs interested.

We definitely should be having a nibble. We have a lot of players coming off contract next year who will be lucky to get another contract. There could be a bit of space. Pick 7 is such a valuable pick and we haven't brought a lot of young guns in recent years.

I’m assuming it’s an upgrade scenario.
So Bowes, his wage & Pick 7 - for Pick 11 (or Dunkley first rounder), or Future First Rounder.
Basically what we did with North to get rid of Rawlings and his wage, although that was third round.

Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022
I think Bowes is a good enough footballer and getting pick 7 would be a huge boost for us. Imagine holding picks 7 and 11 and then what we get for Dunkley maybe pick 15 this year and the same next year.
That might net us Phillipou or even Cadman, and Hayes.

Brisbane aren’t linked. But if they were, they could do a deal to upgrade pick 15 into Pick 7. Then offer Pick 7 for Dunkley.

It's a salary cap dump but with the added advantage of picking up a very good player.
It could be Bowes and #7 for our our pick #29 this year or even more like #37 or even something for next year.
If we can get Bowes interested it could be a huge gain.

I know it's just off the press but what could we offer to get them interested? Absorbing the contract doesn't appear a challenge for us.

It's a salary dump. They are selling at a bargain price because they have to.
What is given back to them will be fairly minimal I expect. Maybe a future 3rd or something like that.

With 3 or 4 clubs interested I think they will ask for a bit more but it's sounds like you might be right.

No surprise to see Geel mentioned.
I will never see #16 the same!!

Bowes is okay but that pick 7 is really nice. Surely they aren’t using it as straight up bait to get off Bowes though.

I think he could be a very effective HBF or winger and he normally uses the ball well. Getting pick 7 would open up all sorts of options for us. The Dunkley money could potentially get us pick 7.

I'd be annoyed if we weren't interested.
Bowes can play and we need more young talent.

Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022
Has there been a club make such consistently poor choices at the trade table as what Gold Coast do? GWS have lost a lot of good players but they've always been well compensated .
I understand its a salary dump and that changes things slightly - but usually that would just be that you get Bowes for nothing. Why offer pick 7 as well - completely unnecessary.
