    Re: Trade Rumours 2024

Listening to discussion around the mid-season draft on talk-back yesterday. Laura Kane speculating about how it would work. She spoke about the issue around moving a player interstate midseason and the effects of their kids schooling (and a whole lot of other permutations ... a lot of which made sense). She spoke about it possibly only being player for player and not the opportunity to trade draft picks for players.

I like the idea. And, as we sit right now, I would be offering Lobb. But A) who would take him mid-season? and B) what could they offer us in return? So (for example) if you're talking Lobb to Collingwood, who have Collingwood got to offer us that they would be willing to part with and that would boost our on-field 23?

I would do Lobb for Noble right now no questions asked and also don’t check my post history.

Yeah - she lost me there.

Tell me again how many AFL players have SCHOOL-aged children?

I had my kids 'young' for this day and age (I was 27) and I played footy until I was 33. So...maybe school age for 1 year???

How many players are still playing when their kids are at school? Umm - not many. And those who are? Club legends who aren't getting traded (most part) or journeyman ruckman/key backs who are hanging on by a thread.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

What about the likes of Jake Stringer who date school age children?

The Saints have supposedly offered Weitering $1.5m per year for eight years. Wow.

That's mad dollars and takes him through till he's thirty four. What's a big bodied backman's condition at that age?

    Sheesh.

I think the age part proves it’s not true.
A bit like the Bont one, Some club offering him 6 years , he will be 35.
But then again we know journos aren’t smart enough to look at the age of a player before making outrageous rumours , it’s all to hard to look that up. I mean if you’re going to start speculating at least look at things that make it plausible.

Innuendo that the injury plagued Jack Martin might be moved from Carlton cheaply so they can throw the kitchen sink at Hayward from Sydney. We were clearly into him at one point. But are his injuries disqualifying?
