How many seasons left on his contract including this season?

I can't find the article now but I read the other day it was something along the lines of:

    2020 $1.4
    2021 $1.5
    2022 $900k

Even without a flag it has probably been a success to this point, but if the final 3 years are wiped out at a cost in the $3.5-4 million area, it starts to swing things the other way. Gill was adamant at the time the whole contract would need to be paid out and included in the cap - let's see if that stands.

Geez has he snapped in half again? Poor old Bruce really shouldn't still be bowling given his injury history and the fact he is approaching 60 years of age.

So when people say the Buddy recruitment is a success what metrics are they using to judge that? General team performance over the period? Media/fan engagement/attention? Franklin's personal performance?

I think given the position they were in when they recruited him and some of the salary cap pressure they've faced since then (Kurt Tippet can also take some credit there) not winning a flag is a pretty big demerit that makes it an overall mixed bag

I don't think there is a definitive gauge on how success is measured other than the easy answer of a flag. I think Franklin has been a very successful addition for Sydney though even though that ultimate success has avoided them so far

Overall Sydney would say it was a great investment for them

Fat Jake limped off the ground at Tullamarine today, some sort of toe/foot issue. Gout is a troublesome ailment.

Apparently a girls High school bus drove past and he just wanted to introduce himself.
