Yup, if you are good enough to play in a premiership then you aren't just hanging around making up the numbers on a list. You might wait years for that chance to roll around but if you are up and ready to go when that chance comes then you aren't just making up the numbers.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Surely the premiership medallion is the ultimate eker award.
Fletcher is no less an eker on every criteria, but has what every eker actually seeks.

Player. Every player should be seeking a premiership or they are just wasting their time.

Absolutely.
But is a special award for the Eker Hall of Fame.

We should build an eker HOF. If we build it they will come-because if there is one thing our club needs it's more ekers.

Re: Ekers
A couple of elite ekers have come to my attention recently:
Keegan Brooksby - classic backup ruckman eker. Rookie drafted by Gold Coast for the 2015 season. Played 11 games across 2015-2016 before being delisted and redrafted for 2017 where he added another 2 games before being delisted again. Most games came as a result of all the other ruckmen being injured. Picked up by West Coast in early 2019 as a pre-season supplemental selection he didn't play a game before being delisted again. Hawthorn now looking at adding him to their list. If picked up but fails to play again he will be up to 5 years on an AFL list for 14 games. That's how you eke.
Darren Minchington - a rare small man eker. Admittedly heavily effected by injury during his long AFL career which unfortunately seems to have come to an end. On St Kilda's list for 7 seasons from 2012-2018 for just 28 games. Added an extra year with Hawthorn in 2019 for 0 games. Came close to returning to Hawthorn's list for 2020 but now out of the running for the spot that may go to Brooksby (see above). Vale Darren Minchington, we hardly knew you (because you averaged 3.5 games a season).

Re: Ekers
Minchington was a real talent, had a shocking run of injuries.
Brooksby should be Eker royalty.

Re: Ekers
Being a really tall guy in the AFL seems like the easiest gig in Australian sports. Guys like Gorringe and Simpson are ekers extraordinaire when Gorringe barely played a game his entire career and Simpson somehow stuck around long enough to retire.

A shout out of credit to you Rocco. This thread is going strong into its 11th season. Easily the longest single running thread on WOOF. And interesting.

Re: Ekers
Trent McKenzie still being on a list is a modern day miracle.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Re: Ekers
Campbell still on Nths list, I actually feel sorry for him, I still rate him just doesn’t seem to get a gig.
Whats his short fall ? Pace ?
He is big , strong can take a mark and he is one of the rare ruckman who will fist the ball 30 Metres.
Not to bad in front of goal either if you go by the way forwards are so bad nowadays.
Bring back the biff
