Re: Essendon
If true, the only reason why you would move a coach on with one week to play is so that you can approach other coaches.
Clarko must have received a call already I suspect.

Clarko now in play for sure, which is funny for the lols at North but I want nobody with genuine ability to be anywhere near the Hanger.
You called this last night Sedat. You called it.

They really should know better. As you say 5 or 6 goals losses gives them hope for the future. 10 goal floggings remove that.
Is there any way we can spin this so that 100% of the blame falls on the coach not recruiting?

Honestly, they should tear down everything and start from the ground up. Those in charge have conducted a pissy internal review for 3 months in-season, and just last week fully endorsed Rutten as their future coach. These are the same people who orchestrated the handover between Worsfold and Rutten without bothering to look externally. Everybody involved with the Mickey Mouse review process and the Worsfold/Rutten handover should stand down in shame - it looks like the president has already done so.
Now there's a real possibility they get ruthless, high achieving people involved at all senior levels of the club. They could very easily have a new board, president, CEO, footy manager, recruiting manager, list manager, coach and captain in the off-season, all basically because Port put the hammer down in the last qtr of an otherwise meaningless Sunday twilight fixture in R22.

I'm shattered this has come true. They are now a chance to become competent again 12 months ahead of schedule (Rutten would have been sacked early next season in any event).
I was watching it in real time last night and it just smelt coach killer. The 2nd qtr was bad enough and the 3rd qtr comeback was false hope, but conceding 9 goals from 18 I50's in the last qtr and laying 6 tackles is a club and gameplan in complete disarray. Now it looks like it will be much more than a coach killer.

Port are now my second most hated team. Did someone not pass them the note about the no public floggings policy?
It's not like Port were playing for a spot in the finals.
If Essendon become relevant again it's on them.

Re: Essendon
Earlier today Rutten was sacked...now the president has stood down, but Rutten is still coach...by the end of the day Rutten might be president and the president might be coaching.
What a delightful news day (as long as they don't get Clarko).

I'm reading it as Clarko said thanks, but NO THANKS.

Re: Essendon
The legends on Bomber Blitz actually suggesting it was a non-story and Rutten is still there. Should that be an addition to the Rooting thread?
