What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Re: Aaron Naughton's Goal-Kicking
He's clearly working on a routine/ technique and he'll tighten it up. Not sure he'll get to the heights we might like but I'm confident he'll improve.
Interestingly Bevo rated him as very good in practice. The kicks he kicks well look beautiful off the boot.

Well, Bevo SAID that he rated him as 'very good'. But what else was he going to say?

Well it was actually in the context of who the best option for a last kick of the game set shot would be.
So, he could have called out somebody else.
However otherwise he could also say that Aaron needs to work on his kicking because results speak for themselves. And that he is working on it.

Re: Aaron Naughton's Goal-Kicking
Those shots within 30m on a slight angle to left of goal absolutely do my head in. He slices them worse than one of my drives.

Re: Aaron Naughton's Goal-Kicking
To me he just doesn't seem to be a kid who grew up with a good technique.
It's not very fluent. Remember he plays a lot of games in perfect conditions under a roof too.
I'm not sure he's ever going to be Plugger but if we can get him half way there he could be one of the all time greats.
What's his field kicking like I can barely remember him kicking outside of set shots!

When he loses his mind and plays on up field for no reason and has to kick it bad things usually happen.

Pre-draft it was considered terrible.
It's now better than it was but it's more 'passable' than 'great'.
I can live with missing difficult chances. It's mising the easy ones which can be deflating. No doubt it will imporve in time, but by how much is up to Aaron.

Re: Aaron Naughton's Goal-Kicking
He was able to convert at least two right foot snaps in the finals that I can’t recall seeing previously, so that’s a positive
His around the corner stuff hasn’t been great

The benefit for the team is enormous if he improves his set shot goal kicking. We haven't been that successful in improving our goal kicking with our forwards over the years but Naughton needs some help in that regard.

Re: Aaron Naughton's Goal-Kicking
If Naughton kicks 50 gain next year we will be travelling well. If he can get to 60 or 70, we will be flying.

He needs to convert 25% of the set shots he has been missing into goals then 60 goals in a season is very achievable.
We really need to invest in a goal kicking coach.

Re: Aaron Naughton's Goal-Kicking
He needs to kick more goals in play as well. Pretty sure the GF one was his first of the season.
