    Two tiered tests?

Starting to grow some legs is the idea that by 2019, test cricket will be split into two divisions. Apparently there will be an official announcement from the ICC within the month.

The first division will be seven sides, the bottom will be five with two new nations to gain test status.

Currently the West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe would be the sides reduced to the lower division- it's not clear what the process for relegation and promotion would be yet.

I don't think it's an ideal situation and is prone to distortion/corruption but if it makes series more relevant it's better than what we have now. Bangladesh and the West Indies need more support from the powerful nations but the thumpings they are currently being delivered is doing more harm to the game than good. We we're beginning to see it with Sri Lanka now, they've been battered on this tour of England.

I still prefer the idea of a Test Championship tournament but the conservative boards are content to have that wither on the vine, what are the thoughts on two tiered tests?
