While I haven't made it to a game despite the best of intentions, I noticed the Aces in 6 games against Canberra and Brisbane scored 78 runs (to the opposition's 27) which mean's wither they are one of the great offensive sides going around or the standard of pitching on some teams isn't particularly flash. Be interested to hear some first hand accounts of the standard from those who've been to games.
Still want to try to get along but it's a pretty big round trip from my place to Flemington.

I think they've invoked the mercy rule about 3 times. They are also playing with a pretty small outfield at the showgrounds.
It will be interesting to see how they go now that there Japanese players have gone home.

I took the kids last week and they really enjoyed, especially when they managed to get their hands on a foul ball.

My eldest is still a bit young which makes it hard. I wondered about the size of the field there.

Fair to day it's hitter friendly and in particular the right field porch.
Interesting to see how the Aces go now that the Japanese imports have gone home.

Is he still playing? He was my favourite player at the Waverley Reds, back in the very early 90s.

Phil's now managing,remember giving him hell when the Reds came to Altona.
Noticing the other week Phil had a very bad limp ,hazard to guess the knees have been through hell.

Watching Perth v Sydney at the moment, Perth are by far the best at broadcasting games.

Sydney winning easily 7-0 at the moment, Perth just pulled their pitcher.

Attended tonight, nice crowd bad result.
Two major errors Davies fluffing a play on first .
Botched double play would have been innings over.
They then scored after our catcher dropped a play at home also

I was also there last night. The one innings cost them big time. They paid dearly for their errors.
Crowd was 1342, about 400 more than the 1st game I went to.

There was an announcement the other day that MLB have agreed to continue supporting the league financially for 5 years, although it will be reviewed each year. Good news, there needs to be some stability for the league to build. be good if they could get some sort of TV presence.

Gee it would be nice if One HD showed some ball games but I'd hazard to guess there'd be a monster Truck meet or some rodeo on!!

Can't see them showing a full game but even a highlights show would be good if done right. They could certainly link it in with their MLB coverage you would think.

I was watching a Perth stream the other day & they mentioned the league was in discussions with both Fox Sports & OneHD, to show highlights.

And also, they announced that a deal for coverage of the finals had been reached.

The Australian Baseball League is set to announce live television coverage of its play-offs.

ABL operations manager Ben Foster said a TV deal and naming rights were the next frontier the competition needed to conquer.

''We hope to finalise in the next week [a deal] to broadcast our finals live the ABL championship series in February as the showcase of this series,'' he said.

Foster said the six teams had assembled high-quality players from around the world and the fans were being treated to the best baseball played in Australia.

Canberra Cavalry general manager Tony Fraser said the fans at ''Fort Narrabundah'' had been lucky to see some thrillers.

''The people turning up to see the games here have been rewarded with really exciting baseball generally very close games and Cavalry wins,'' Fraser said.

''But despite the fact of where we are on the table, I don't think that has mattered to the people coming along to the games they're just loving the atmosphere and they just see it as a brilliant night.''

The league is being run with the financial backing of MLB and both Foster and Fraser said they were ''meeting'' budget corporate speak for making a forecasted loss.

''We've got budgets that we're expecting to meet and we're meeting those,'' Fraser said.

''The idea is that within five years the league will be running at a profit without the need for backing from Major League Baseball.''

Both agreed that now the Cavalry and ABL 'brands' were out there, it would make selling their 'product' a lot easier.

On average more than 1000 people turn up to Narrabundah to watch the Cavs every game and Foster said all other ballparks were ''meeting or exceeding'' expected crowds.

He said a really good supporter base had been built, along with strong membership numbers.

The medium-term goal was to get the crowds up to between 3000 and 5000.

A Fort Narrabundah with that many people would have an amazing atmosphere although the already over-worked women in the cafeteria might have a heart attack.

That, along with increased corporate support, would help the ABL realise its goal of self-sustainability.

Good day out at the baseball, 1st inning was the killer, as Adelaide scored 6 runs.

We came back into the game, with a chance to win it at the bottom of the 9th. Bases loaded, 2 outs & Biddle (i think it was) hits the ball to his toes, game over.

Final score 10-7.
